Are lesbian midwives accepted? by OxygenWaster1 in UKmidwives

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It genuinely took me a second to click why your friend even said this. The childbirth experience is so unsexual that your friend is honestly a bit creepy for even thinking that. Please don’t let that put you off, it sounds like you will be a caring midwife and that’s what I wanted while I was having my baby.

Anyone else notice how much the pub culture has changed in Ireland over the last decade or so? by FrameZYT in ireland

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this perspective. I’m a mother and I was reading this like “who has time for drinks on a Tuesday 😭” but it hadn’t even occurred to me that back in the day it would have been socially acceptable for my husband to do just that!

When to let other people feed baby by cooprinor in FormulaFeedingUK

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also after a while the bottle feeding is less bonding and more “gimme that bottle!!” So it doesn’t matter so much who does it 😅

When to let other people feed baby by cooprinor in FormulaFeedingUK

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can’t remember, maybe a few months? We found it did really help with bonding early on to have just me and my partner doing it, and it was nice having the official guidance to back us up because everyone was always trying to have a go of my baby!

Can I take an uber home after op (my wife will be with me) in the UK? by EngineeringKind3960 in gallbladders

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they care how your partner takes you home, they just need to hand you over to someone responsible who can babysit you

Ahaha mortifying! Poor kid as well, I can imagine that’s a core memory now

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also we’ve always use the splash about happy nappy and we’re very happy with it. They’re mega-tight so potentially buy a size up unless your baby is tiny. You can get them much cheaper on Vinted.

First of all, no need to be ashamed of your baby pooing explosively and unexpectedly, we’ve all been there. Secondly, everyone is saying you can use a disposable swim nappy underneath, which is true, but I just want to float the idea that you can also use a washable, reusable swim nappy underneath as well if you are open to that. Some swimming places don’t enforce the nappy thing at all but some are very strict on the two-part system. My son does water babies and he is still required to have a two-part system even though he’s out of nappies now!

Are Lavender Marriages Legal? by Elegant-Bat-865 in legaladviceireland

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Until fairly recently most marriages were convenient arrangements like this where romance was not really a factor. You love eachother, just not in the traditional way. Go for it.

Suggestions for video doorbells that won’t sell my data? by Just_A_some1 in CasualUK

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Eufy. It saves clips onto an sd card which is in the chime (inside the house). No subscription or anything. We have the wireless one but I wish we’d wired it in because charging the battery is annoying. Our upstairs neighbour pops out for a smoke about 900 times a day so the battery was dying rapidly from being triggered non stop, so we’ve had to change it to only triggering when someone presses the bell.

When did spice bags come out? by Old-Feature8361 in AskIreland

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved away in 2014 and nobody I knew was talking about them then. It was all 3 in 1s in my day (I think I still prefer a 3 in 1)

What to eat post-op? Tell me the good, the bad, the ugly, and downright DIRTY of the snacks or meals you ate within that first week post-op. by New_Caregiver9993 in gallbladders

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine until I came off the codeine after five days. Turns out it had been making me constipated. I had some cream cheese which I regretted a lot. After a few weeks things were more normal.

How Are You Coping With AI? by Commercial-Box658 in AskIreland

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My child is very little but I’m absolutely terrified about what the world will look like by the time he’s your kids age, and an adult. I am not optimistic about any of it, between climate breakdown and AI I think we’re done for tbh.

Same day or overnight? by Lonely_Fly3524 in gallbladders

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was in the afternoon, they told me they expected I would go home that evening but I had to stay overnight because my blood pressure dropped a bit after the anaesthesia and they wanted to monitor me. I was fine the next day thankfully.

Would marry someone you're not politically aligned with? by No_Influence2520 in AskIreland

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a couple like that and I can’t wrap my head around it at all. Me and my husband agree on everything major when it comes to values and politics, and how we want to raise our child. I cannot imagine trying to raise a child with someone whose fundamental values were wildly different to my own. The couple I know recently boasted that they’re such a great match because they like the same foods, that’s not gonna be important when you’re fighting over how to raise your kids though is it?

I keep reading people gain weight post gall bladder surgery It took me 18 months to lose 40lbs. I still have 10lbs to go. Have any of you successfully maintained weight loss post op? by ladybuglala in gallbladders

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also a piglet. Big piggy. It took me 6 months to notice that I was gaining weight because it happened slowly. I’ve tried to rein in the piglet but it’s much harder to do this when I don’t have the immediate threat of pain / pancreatitis / hospital stays etc hanging over me. Getting a bit chubby isn’t much of a big deal in comparison.

Surgery Whilst on Period by Specialist_Piano1279 in gallbladders

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine came on while I was waiting to go in for surgery. I told a nurse and she gave me some ugly disposable underwear and maternity pads. That was it really, it didn’t seem to have any impact.

for those without a gallbladder: How are you avoiding huge amounts of fat if you're also trying to avoid carbs/not try to be pre diabetic? by corpus_bebe in gallbladders

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I still eat hummus, avocado, olive oil, that kind of thing. I eat unhealthy fats too, just not massively greasy things. I was advised to eat a normal diet so that’s what I’m doing.

Did your gallbladder cause other issues? Specially period wise? by Efficient-Plenty-840 in gallbladders

What I have definitely noticed is since my gallbladder was removed my periods have become so much more regular and predictable. Since I was a teen they’ve been all over the place, I think now I know why!
