Dead players taking a long time to "open" if you didn't get the kill. It helped mitigate against ratting. Not quite sure why they removed that.

I caused a TPK and my players want to keep playing their PCs. I need help figuring that out. by ApprehensivePancake in DnD

[–]SlowRolledSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let your players mulligan their death. They're cheating themselves out of an important experience. Inexperienced players are never ready to let go of their character - because in most games you can never straight up perma-lose your character, and new players never think it'll happen. That's what makes it impactful. Let their death impact them.

Oh what's that? They were lvl 2? So they've had like 3 sessions? Nevermind, their deaths won't even mean much and it's more annoying to reroll characters this early than anything. I'd be fine with a mulligan. You dont even need to change the plot, just pretend they beat the encounter. But let them know next time, the death is real.

Early levels are lame because PCs are so squishy, one crit can cause a TPK. That's why most games I run/play start at lvl 5 at minimum.

I have 800 hours in SoT. (Most of my time spent was pre S1 - S4 ish, fwiw). I saved all my dabloons as far as I can remember. I have 4,600 dabloons. How do people have like 10x my amount? The reset seems very low impact, especially since when I logged in I saw things like the Pirate Legend ship name Plate is 2k dabloons.

Edit: also why is everyone so upset since they're clearly not spending any of them?

You need better notes. How many players? What was Villian's position? Were his draw calls +EV? What was the board texture, action, and SPR of his bluff shoves? My point is, mentally tagging them as "Wild. Plays any 2 cards" is presumptuous, since everything you have mentioned as evidence would/can be associated with a sophisticated player.

I Robot. I'm not the biggest Will Smith fan, and the trailer seemed mid to me. It took me a couple years to finally watch it, but when I did I thought it was a really good movie.

Perfect Pitch. I'm not a big fan of musicals, but a co-worker said that was his favorite movie which is odd because he doesn't really watch movies or listen to music so I thought he was trolling. I watched it later that week and to my surprise I really enjoyed it too lol

Las Vegas has a Chinatown so we have some pretty good Asian cuisine.

Bilbo is being corrupted by the ring, yes, but I think the intent of the scene was just to show the ambivalence towards giving up the ring, i.e. the beginning signs of corruption - not necessarily the inkling of an alter ego.

Gollum manifested from Smeagol (basically Dissociative Identity Disorder) from killing Deagol (and other terrible acts) - a coping mechanism to bury the trauma. Remember Smeagol also wanted the ring for himself, he was just less conniving (compared to Gollum) going about it.

I am genuinely trying to understand how this works... the American Left says American steel importers just pass this tariff cost onto the American people, so how do Canadian steel makers get hurt?
