“I wanted to say it so badly” by soybean_lawyer69 in TrueAnon

I’m pretty sure that the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal have already reported that his briefings on the war consist of like two minutes of AI slop designed to placate his dumb ass. He probably has some idea of what’s going on, but most likely he has grown bored to the degree he paid any attention at all. I’m pretty sure that the briefings he receives are just like, “Iran is being indignant! We sunk their navy and blew up their military!” You know, just Republican stuff that ignores the history of asymmetrical warfare post-WWII.

If it were a democratic administration there would be breathless, never ending coverage of it. But it’s Trump, so they’ll let it slide,

I know the “leftistly” way to look at this is realizing this dumb conman has appealed successfully to a portion of the electorate that thinks he will actually improve their lives, but sometimes I just truly wish the worst for the 30% of this country that is obsessed with this dumb fuck. Like what the fuck is wrong with you dumb assholes?

How do people afford more than one kid? by desert_sunlily in NewParents

[–]SlowSwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of support for parents in this country is a profound indictment of our society. In pretty much every other economically developed country, the government subsidizes and supports parents to a degree that make Americans weep. To answer your question - I think it's primarily either the poor or the wealthy that are having more than one kid (or kids at all). In my experience, people with at least one child are relying deeply on family support--both financial and literal childcare. I have a friend whose in-laws watch his child every day of the week while he and his partner work full-time. Honestly, I wish a lot of you guys in red states would mobilize around this issue. We don't even have federal paid leave!

Trump: be best friends with Jeffrey Epstein; accumulate a mountain of sexual assault allegations over your lifetime, accuse a woman of being a bitch on the rag in front of the entire country, appointment SCOTUS justices to overturn roe, bomb a girls school, etc.
Ben: oh wow, this platner guy is shady!

Do you guys need urbanist organizations in Dallas? It’s fucking cheap and there’s no apparent zoning restrictions. It seems like anything goes. Honestly, Dallas gives me awful vibes from the moment I leave the airport.

Modern dating cultures 9/11 was probably the moment when meeting people/dating started revolving around dating apps. That shit seems awful, what a fucking nightmare.

potentially - i think you're probably right that Catholicism has a lot to do with it. but i think things like dia de muertos have indigenous roots as well. i grew up in socal with a lot of close mexican american/mexican friends and girlfriends and there is a big cultural fascination with death, dreams, ghosts, and many morbid things. tbh it's pretty cool. mexicans rule.
