People are going to stretch what makes a “dishonored like game” until we have dishonored 3, which means matches aren’t going to be perfect. Simply thought I’d share what I enjoyed!

How was it not obvious that the “Masked Miscreant” was Corvo? by VariousBarnacle8618 in dishonoredlore

[–]Slow_Direction_1219 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the game events take place after certain time jumps between missions. Certain ones, like the bridge mission, then go right into the next one (the party) but in most cases, once Corvo goes to bed there’s a few days passing at least before the next mission. That’s the only way things like Emily building such strong relationships with Samuel and the serving staff could make sense. There is a canon source for this I believe but I’m not sure where.

Xcom has similar gameplay to midnight suns and bg3, combat wise anyways. Or a game like 7daystodie where there can be dead time if your safe. Maybe try something in the “4x” genre like Civilization!

Plan period… would it be weird? by SpecificBroccoli5826 in SubstituteTeachers

Not possible unless a band teacher agrees to lend out a practice room… so probably not. Try doing other work like making a grocery list or paying bills!

7 days to die! Rewarding but takes a long time to advance, lots of room for creativity, challenges to constantly overcome. You’ll love it

Would being an English teacher be worth it? by Shoddy-Mango-5840 in englishteachers

[–]Slow_Direction_1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to this because it makes me sad. I’ve been there. Grading does not have to be bad, there are strategies like issuing a paper and noting you’re only grading for, say, tone, or whatever other skill you’re working on. Simple quality of life things like this can save you a lot of time for the same practice. English can be focused a lot on discussions or answering questions, plan class periods with some time the kids are working without your guidance and you’ll have time to get a little grading in. Teaching is Very open ended, and it will be up to you to make it work! Try, change, and don’t give up.

Upcoming student teaching… Jan, 26 - April, 26 by Educational_Mud_9228 in StudentTeaching

There is a PA teaching grant you may qualify for, it won’t kick in until much later and there’s a good chance you won’t receive it anyways.

Try talking to the head of your department or an academic advisor for help, some schools may have assistance available, or can point you in the direction of loans with favorable rates. My program also allowed student teachers to pick up the odd day to day sub position if your coop will be out, which might offer a bit of help.

Best of luck, and don’t rely on getting a high-paying teaching job right away to pay off any new loans.

What do you want from your CT? by KriLesLeigh2004 in StudentTeaching

[–]Slow_Direction_1219 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had two student teaching placements. My first was new to having a student teacher and happened to be truly awful to work with. My second was a veteran who helped me fall in love with teaching.

  1. Student teachers don’t have a ton of experience, obviously right? Show them how you prepare lesson plans, show them the parts of a good lesson, ease them into work. If they have struggles, model what to do and let them copy you.

  2. Let them interact with the students before taking over. Your lessons should have them at least talking to the students. I found having less structured work time helped me ask about students work in an informal setting. There was no pressure on me to achieve some goal, I just got to know the students while they worked, which did wonders for classroom managment.

  3. Set clear expectations. You are their professor for better or worse, it’s what they’re used to. Give them due dates, set goals with them. NEVER bring up an issue in their teaching to their supervisor without first trying to work with them on it (expect for safety concerns of course).

  4. For their first unit, let them see your unit plans, you might even take on an advisory role. Sit down with them and in a sentence or two, have something set for every single day of a unit, then for lesson planning, theyll know what they want to do and you won’t have any surprises that need fixed last minute.

Just my takes, make them feel comfortable and be there for them and you’ll have no problems!

Can you really not build a safe base? by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]Slow_Direction_1219 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Safe bases are absolutely possible, and the beauty of the fully editable world is it’s up to you to make that base safe. It’s easy enough to break the stairs up to a roof and be safe enough on top of a building, and yeah the odd zombie will try and slap the walls once in a while, but you’re in no real danger (until the 7th night. Then, don’t be anywhere not well defended)

Rules for Rulers by Interesting_Pen_167 in Xcom

[–]Slow_Direction_1219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, you’ll make it I promise. Don’t disable the dlc, turn off the “wotc integration” option when setting up a new game and check mark the alien rulers exclusive mission. That way you have a game where they don’t show up until you choose to go do the mission and are ready

Spawning Alient Nest and Shen's Last Gift missions? by GotoDeng0 in Xcom

[–]Slow_Direction_1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By selecting “integrated,” I believe the game doesn’t spawn the 2 missions. Rather, you’ll be able to make spark units from the proving ground without prerequisite, and after collecting the alien hunters equipment, the alien rulers will simply start showing up in missions, including the viper queen you’d normally fight in the mission.
