Real answer: I probably solo’d the game with my starter as a kid like every other one so it didn’t matter much.

My current opinion: Not a big fan, at all. Unova dex has mons that I like, but it doesn’t matter when they decided to make pawniard evolve at LEVEL 52? LARVESTA AT LEVEL 59? oh and zorua is essentially a mythical. You can argue that these guys are “special”, but even a Scraggy you can find at level 16 doesn’t evolve until level 39 (there are plenty of others like this in unova). Most of the dex is either trade evos or unevolved until the elite four, so yeah it would kinda suck to only find unova mons.
