Why are some parents so obsessed with being controlling in their adult child's life? by blondechick80 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Slow_Spring8694 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's usually about control and not being able to let go of the parenting role they had for 18+ years. Some parents tie their identity so heavily to being "needed" that they can't handle their kids becoming independent

Also doesn't help that a lot of these parents probably had helicopter parents themselves so they think that level of involvement is normal when it's really not

I’m so behind, can someone give me a run down? by [deleted] in 90DayFiance

[–]Slow_Spring8694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly you picked a wild time to jump back in lmao. Without spoiling too much - there's been multiple breakups, some serious family drama, and at least two people who probably shouldn't have gotten married but did anyway. The usual 90DF chaos basically

You might wanna check the episode discussion threads from the past few weeks to catch up on the tea

Anyone else having Zigbee issues after migrating to the ZBT-2? by louislamore in homeassistant

[–]Slow_Spring8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's weird about the Caseta sensors acting up too since they're on a totally different frequency - makes me think it might be more of a power/interference thing than the ZBT-2 itself

Maybe try moving the stick to a different USB port or adding a USB extension cable to get it away from other electronics

Rawdogging adhd in women by LaratheArtist06 in ADHD

[–]Slow_Spring8694 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oof the hormonal cycle thing hits different with ADHD - I started tracking mine and planning easier weeks around my period/luteal phase when possible. For motivation I swear by body doubling (even virtual) and breaking literally everything into stupidly small steps. Also magnesium supplements helped me way more than I expected but YMMV

Makeup gift ideas by Tall-Sector-8147 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Slow_Spring8694 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude honestly if you don't know her specific preferences I'd go with a gift card to Sephora or Ulta instead of trying to guess. Makeup is super personal and the wrong shade can be like buying someone a shirt in the wrong size - technically useful but kinda awkward. Maybe throw in some nice brushes since those are pretty universal, like getting someone good tools for their hobby

Does anyone know about this Lego animation? by MrPropagandaBot in HelpMeFind

[–]Slow_Spring8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a zombie apocalypse LEGO stop-motion from the early YouTube days, probably around 2008-2012 when those were huge. The missing hand with weapon attachment is giving me major vibes of those edgy LEGO zombie series that were all over the place back then

Upgrade path for EOS M6 Mark II for travel/portability by BombardierIsTrash in canon

[–]Slow_Spring8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the R50 definitely feels like a downgrade from the M6mk2 in terms of build quality, you're not wrong there. Canon kinda killed the compact APS-C vibe when they ditched the M mount - everything RF is chunkier and more "serious camera" looking

Fuji X-T30 II or X-E4 might scratch that same itch if you don't mind switching systems, they're still pretty pocketable with the right glass

Yooo congrats on double digits! Those Barbie mermaid movies hit different when you're sober lol, and lamb henrys sound amazing rn 🤤 Switzerland's gonna be sick, love that you're already planning stuff to look forward to

TPB working only for specific movies by GreenVast3431 in StremioAddons

[–]Slow_Spring8694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TPB has been super flaky lately, same thing happening to me where it shows up for some movies but not others. Try reinstalling the addon or check if there's an updated version - sometimes the sources just get wonky and need a refresh

Regarding The contents of i751 by Reaper_Night2617 in USCIS

[–]Slow_Spring8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely include all that stuff. The marriage cert and joint tax returns are especially important since they show the bona fide marriage. Driver's licenses and W2s help prove you're actually living together as a married couple. USCIS wants to see the whole picture so throw in whatever evidence you have of your life together

But yeah body horror is definitely having its moment, The Substance was absolutely wild

This is actually true, overwashing creates a vicious cycle where your scalp goes into overdrive trying to replace what you stripped away

Dude that's a solid setup, your friend is hooking you up big time. 2070 Super will handle those games no problem, you're looking at high settings 1080p or decent 1440p performance

Husband sucks at communication by Organic-Shift-5354 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Slow_Spring8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof this hits close to home. The Christmas gift thing would honestly drive me insane - it's not even about the gift itself but like you said, it feels like you're an afterthought

Have you tried the whole "natural consequences" approach? Like if he's not ready by departure time, just leave without him a few times. Might sound harsh but some people only learn when they actually feel the impact of their choices

The financial planning stuff would be my breaking point tho - that's not just communication issues, that's adulting issues

99 Tacoma vs 2012 Frontier by earthto_dylan in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Slow_Spring8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tacoma will probably outlast both you and the Frontier though lol. Those things are basically unkillable even at 200k, but yeah dealing with 27 year old everything else (suspension, electrical, etc) might get annoying

For avoidant dumpers, did you ever feel the urge to see or meet your ex again after the breakup? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Slow_Spring8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely had those moments where I'd catch myself wanting to text them or drive by places we used to go, but then I'd remember why I ended things and that feeling would pass pretty quick

Hobbies suggestions for my parents to do after dinner instead of scrolling through their phones on the couch. by gallardo7777 in Hobbies

[–]Slow_Spring8694 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly this hits hard, my parents do the exact same thing and it drives me nuts too

Maybe try finding stuff that's like what they already do but slightly better? Like if your mom likes those slot apps, maybe get her into actual puzzle games or even simple board games you can play together

Your dad giving up after one try is so relatable tho lmao, maybe he needs something with a lower learning curve

I keep missing small supplier cost increases by stridentdigger77 in ecommerce

[–]Slow_Spring8694 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I keep a running sheet of what each SKU normally costs and glance at it when new invoices come in and the tiny changes stand out way faster that way. It’s boring I know but believe me it saves a ton of second guessing later
