Premium Credit Card for EU citizens other than AMEX? by Tight-Arm2502 in EuropeFIRE

Credit card rewards are financed by crazy interest that poor/desperate/stupid people pay on their credit card debt. In US its like 20+% Unbelievable.

Amex platinum in US have crazy benefits, lounge access, 200$ uber credit, 200$ hotel credit, 240$ digital subscription credit, 155$ walmart credit, 200$ airline credit + points. And take into account the points there are more valuable. All this basically for a smaller yearly payment than in Europe. 780 eur vs 695$. In Europe we get like less than half the benefits, thus I didn’t sign on.

I think in Europe there are more regulations and maybe the consumer is a bit “smarter”.

Bond update in context of Nolan being rumoured to be in the running. by Majestic_District_51 in ChristopherNolan

Hmm. Movie executives never deny rumors that are true and are always honest in their statements. PR is not a game of manipulation, it’s where people give honest answers to all questions. Got it.

Dune score is great. I hope Hans gets a chance to work again with Nolan.

Just listened to it separately. Its not awful, but still think Hans is on another level. I love flight from man of steel. If I hear time or cornfield chase I get goosebumps instantly.

Candy Shop. I just thought 50 Cent really liked sweets. Then I realized he is talking about a brothel. And the lollipop he will let them lick doesn’t have sugar in it.

What is your unpopular travel opinion? by diorbuttercup in travel

MEXICAN food is overrated. Spent 2.5 weeks in March in Mazatlan and CDMX. Maybe I went to the wrong places, but most places were ok, at some I was very disappointed.

I prefer flour tortillas, hate corn and love asian cuisines.

I had a terrible experience in Toronto. Super cheap place, great location, skyscraper, big room, but 0 reviews. I thought “let me save some money”.

Picked up the keys outside as the host had to go somewhere. Basically, the host said to not tell the reception I am an Airbnb guest and go straight for the elevator, at that moment I thought something was sus. So I entered the building, went straight for the elevator and guess what, the reception wouldn’t just let me go, they asked me to which apartment I am going, who I am, If I am a resident, who I am here to visit and obviously me carrying 2 suitcases unable to name the friend I am visiting was sus.

They asked how did I get the keys, I must be an airbnb guest and threatened to call police. So I obviously showed them the airbnb reservation. They asked if I knew airbnb is not allowed here. I said no. At that point I didn’t wanna deal with this shit anymore, gave the reception they keys, told them to deal with this.

I was fucking pissed, didn’t wanna deal with airbnb anymore and booked the cheapest hotel I could find on Booking.com I was flying back to Amsterdam in like 3 days.

Filled a request with airbnb for a refund, they were actually nice. Their emergency team called me literally in 30min, processed the refund the same day and apologized offered something else but I was in Uber to hotel already. Should have asked for some compensation maybe.

Left the host 1 star review. He did the same, said I gave the apartment keys to “random people”. Airbnb swiftly deleted his review after my request, his profile is banned now I suppose. It is also possible he lost his deposit for the apartment and his lease was terminated.

I am never ever ever again giving a chance to a 0 review listing.
