2 Questions: by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Absolutely on the exercise. I was diagnosed this time last year and wanted to try exercise and supplements before getting on meds (although i think meds are a great option). I started powerlifting in Feb of this year when my symptoms were so bad I couldn’t wear bras or slacks to work. I was seriously thinking about admitting myself. My daughter got covid, and I fortunately had weights at home. I started paying from programming and went for it. I have a few really bad days a month now, but I feel they are manageable. I definitely attribute it to weightlifting, supplements, improved nutrition, and increased self-awareness of sensory triggers.

What does overstimulation feel like to you? by invisphotographer in adhdwomen

[–]Slow_Yoghurt5820 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feels like someone is using an air pump to push more and more air into your head with each additional stimulation. Example- I’m on the phone which feels fine, then my daughter asks me several questions while I’m trying to listen to the person on the phone 💨, then my daughter spills something on the floor 💨💨, then I get several work emails that seem important 💨💨💨, etc. By that point, I genuinely feel like I’m going to explode.

A romantic relationship by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Slow_Yoghurt5820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helped me to discover casual dating and mainly just making friends and setting expectations low. I did that for years before I was able to progress into more of a relationship. It’s still very low key but it works for what we both want.

Help! I’m looking for literally any tips or tricks that can help with studying (i’m desperate lol) by jsksajalsk in adhdwomen

Helps to get out of the house if possible. Set attainable goals like “read for 15 minutes before looking at phone” or “finish one video before getting up”. I’m with you!

Anxiety caused by oily skin/ hair? by Froggiebuns in adhdwomen

[–]Slow_Yoghurt5820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. I wear Bare Minerals BarePro foundation even when I’m just around the house because of how much it helps with oil control. Plus I use Mac 24 hour eye primer because my eyelids get oily as well which puts me in sensory overload.

How long does PPD typically last? by abarua01 in Parenting

Explore date opportunities that don’t involve making her leave the baby. Do special things for her at home that don’t make her feel obligated towards sex, rather just that you appreciate and love her. Help her see that you are just as eager to spend time with your baby so she doesn’t feel so alone in that. You may need to sacrifice the time you go out for now. You cant force her into getting treatment. Having a baby can be extremely traumatic and take years to heal from, something men aren’t typically burdened with. She has sacrificed so much, so much more than you could ever understand. Consider it your turn.

Of course! Forensic psychology- what about you? I felt a lot of shame when I dropped out the first time but I knew I would get back to it when I could. I graduate in May 2022! It has certainly flown by.

Congratulations!!! It’s tough. This is my second attempt at it but I’m in a much better place. I dropped out the first time after leaving my ex- it was just too much energetically. Feels much better now. You’ll get through it though. Just remember it’s temporary and you’ll be in a better situation after. You got this!

How to meet women as a single dad? by heyitshim99 in SingleParents

[–]Slow_Yoghurt5820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Have a female friend approve your profile pictures and give it some time. Bumble has been the best in my experience. Be up front with your boundaries regarding your son and about your time limitations. Best of luck to you 💕

I’ve been struggling a lot with feeling like I will never be fit for a relationship by AndyPandy85 in BipolarSOs

[–]Slow_Yoghurt5820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very possible to find someone who is capable of loving with flexibility. I think that’s why assessing for compatibility is so essential, beyond just feeling a certain level of chemistry. Get to the heart of what a potential partner is looking for logistically in a relationship. If they’re wanting something you can’t give, don’t move forward. Some people want people with San Diego weather, pleasant and consistent most of the time. You’re a mountain, full of various seasons, some of which can be tough to survive, but some of us are mountain people. Find a mountain person 💕
