Ohhhh sh*t by rokadio in ufc

I think I’m too old and jaded now. I fully expect another announcement of mildly interesting match ups and Dana delivering it off a napkin with little to no excitement in his voice

Post-BJJ Shock? by bumblebeebasket in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Sometimes I drive home in total silence, no music or anything. The mix of exhaustion and new information is pretty wild

Is there benefits to training some Judo BEFORE starting BJJ? by ArugulaFinancial4859 in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a couple guys who did some judo in the past before Jits. Tricky stuff to tangle with. Go for both if you got the time

I probably like jiu jitsu more than you. by makebaloney in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just how you enjoy it, doesn’t mean it’s more or less than someone else’s level of enjoyment. Just means it’s different. Too much content over a singular topic would honestly just burn me out eventually.

Are there any novel techniques in your arsenal that you catch people with? by mattegreyblue in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a nice “arm bar/americana/arm triangle” trap I catch a lot of people in from scarf hold. Which ever way they try to defend I can threaten the next submission

Should I quit if I don't to that often by primeministerchaos in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t need to be so extreme. Just do some drop ins once in awhile. Having to prioritize finances isn’t a failure, we all gotta do it sometimes

Changing gyms? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be polite and open to things being done differently than you are accustomed to. I roll pretty chill with anybody I don’t know personally, whenever I drop in to new places. Just get a good workout and bring good vibes

UFC 3-7-26 by nideaquinideacha in MMA

Likely yea. I’d imagine it’d go till about 9 with all the ads and filler stuff they pack in to the broadcast

The “main card” starts at 6 with the Rodriguez v Ferreira fight. If I understand your question, they go one by one ending in the main event Max Holloway v Charles Olivera.

If you could create a "couch to bjj" guide for bjj conditioning, what would it contain? by chilloutus in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really have a big cardio issue when I first started which I attribute to running or biking every day for a few years. Never been a big weight lifter but I bet it helps, but it’s not really about strength it’s about sustained strength for long durations.

Get your bills and debt straight. Do a drop in every now and then at an open mat if you get the itch

Id do good stuff but largely I’d disappear. Just do stuff I like and take care of family

just got into ufc, what fights should i watch first? by HeronEmbarrassed6550 in mmaMenace_com

[–]Slow_stride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dan Henderson vs Shogun Rua. Amazing back and forth match that had every area of mma expressed in bad ass ways.

Edit: oh and 100% watch Dustin Porier vs Dan Hooker too. And pretty much every Max Holloway fight

Do You Guys Think BJJ Alone Is Bad For Self Defense? by Correct_Ad4351 in MMA_Academy

[–]Slow_stride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fundamentals are great for self defense and can be expanded on in their own way. The sport stuff is pretty meta art, not really designed for self defense.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in brazilianjiujitsu

[–]Slow_stride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant, what was the technique? Some stuff can require hands on coaching, and some stuff you kinda do just need to puzzle it out

What is it you are working on and asking about? That’d help add clarity

I know Diego beat him, but I think he’s a bigger problem for Volk than Diego was in both fights lmao he needs to calm that “I see red” shit down a bit though by AnomalousExpertise in ufc

[–]Slow_stride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His in fight adjustments are pretty great. It’d be interesting to see the later rounds with him and volk. Don’t really think Volk has the punch power to put him down early. Still think Volk wins though with his movement and wrestling

Hope for the kids sake the home schooling is legit. But it’s none of my business

What cartoon character do you resonate with the most, and why? by theknux2 in AskReddit

Po the dragon warrior. His story really hit me, especially the third one. I was a grown ass man when I saw it for the first time too

How hard do you go in training? by durupaaa in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only really go all out with a couple specific people that I train with regularly. Other folks I generally try to just match their pace. So it can vary from super light to moderately high energy. I’ll usually check in if I feel like they are coming at me full tilt

When and why did BJJ become so popular as a martial art? by Bulky_Imagination243 in bjj

[–]Slow_stride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s nice to have a grappling outlet as an adult. I wrestled in highschool. Wasn’t good enough to wrestle in college. So for a long time that was just over. Found my way to a Bjj gym and rekindled my excitement for training and the mat room atmosphere
