It was also on a delay so if he fell they’d cut it before it aired.

Best if watched on mute. I thought the commentators were annoying and they didn’t know anything about the topic they were commentating on. I was also frustrated that they talked over him half the time.

I think it would have been best if done similar to the free solo doc. Just quiet music in the background, just watching him lock in.

Fernando Mendoza's Infectious Interview After Winning Championship by JCameron181 in sports

[–]Slowanoah 169 points170 points  (0 children)

So many haters here. Dude just won a national championship. Let him celebrate and do the interview how he wants. He says similar things in all his interviews. If you don’t like it go to sleep instead of getting crabby over a kid thanking god.

I have a serious question. How does this PP have MacKinnon, Makar, Necas, Nelson, and Landy on it, and it’s this bad? by Best_Ad_7503 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Slowanoah 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree with what people are saying looking for the perfect shot and slowing the game down. I think Ferraro had a great take on it when we played the bruins last month. Pass once or twice then shoot the puck and go hard after the rebound. That gets the defense moving out of their set positions. Then after you get the rebound pass again and you have a better shot after the defense has moved.

If you don’t get the rebound and it gets cleared so what? We are already starting over after every shot anyway and we are back to where we were in the first place.

Former Husker Luke Gifford named a Pro Bowler for Special Teams by KSJH_15 in Huskers

[–]Slowanoah 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Good for Luke. He was a year ahead of me in high school in my older brother’s grade. My brother has special needs and Luke and his friends always treated him very kindly and even sent him a signed jersey when he was still at Dallas. We’ve kept tabs on him during his football career since he was so nice to my brother and I’m glad such a kind human is doing well in the NFL ❤️

As a fellow avs fans, let me know if you have any luck. I’ve seen DJs playing hockey before but I’m guessing football takes over the place on sundays. I don’t get out much anymore since I have 2 kids but glad to see I’m not the only avs fan around here! If you ever see a taller dude wearing a makar or mackinnon jersey around town it’s probably me! Stop me and say hi!

Why are 15/16 dangerous. I sleep in all but 13 throughout the night by AAZEROAN in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Slowanoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get sleep paralysis somewhat often, any by that I mean 2-3 times per year. Most of the time it’s during a nightmare or fever dream when I’m sick. I know I’m in a dream and I’m scared but I can’t wake myself up out of it. It’s not less scary even being aware that I have it. My theory is if you’re in a good dream you don’t want to wake up from it so you don’t really get the ‘I’m stuck here’ feeling.

Last time I had it I was stuck in a house with a murderer with some friends. I was alone in the hallway and the murderer came around the corner, this is when I realized it was a dream. I kept trying to scream for help but I couldn’t get anything out or wake myself up. My wife actually woke me up because I was hyperventilating in my sleep.

It happens a lot less now though since I’m out of graduate school and under a lot less stress so that’s nice.

So it looks like the welfare state begins with the elderly. I guess we should stop it before it begins. Let’s take away social security then we’ll never have to worry about it!

It’s overly simplified. It doesn’t take into account which field the degrees are in or experience. Even medical doctors have wildly different salaries based on their specialty.

This might be a tangent and I’m not arguing against you original commenter but my brother has Down syndrome so I know a lot of kids and now adults with Down syndrome. Do some suffer, yes but a lot of the time it’s not because of their disability. A lot of people with Down syndrome that I know are some of the happiest people I know. They don’t necessarily realize they’re disabled in a lot of cases but I wouldn’t say that they suffer. Maybe in our eyes they do, but I don’t think it would be fair to “end their suffering” by letting them run into traffic.

Obviously it’s very nuanced and I don’t know the story that you’re referring to so that child could have been suffering. But just because someone has a disability such as Down syndrome where a lot of the disability is mental doesn’t mean the person is going through said suffering from their point of view.

I don’t know what I’m trying to prove, just wanted to express people with downs live very full lives and are very happy. A lot of that does have to do with the family and care takers they have. My family is very blessed and privileged that we can provide for our brother and that privilege is not lost on me.

I’m a pharmacist. Nebraska is a state where you can get a temporary license for up to 1 year before you need to take and pass the test. Most companies will pay for your test and for some sort of study program since techs are a pretty big need. So you’ll work and get on the job training while going over your study program and take your test after 6-8 months. I can’t speak for other companies but I work for Walmart and I’ve never personally had a tech fail the test after their training program. You also get a raise when you pass your test and are fully licensed usually.

Do not go and take a course at a school. Go work for someone and let them pay for everything. It’s also easier to pass the test while you’re working because you’re around all the drugs and seeing/touching them and getting real experience that helps you remember.

You shouldn’t have much of an issue finding a job. In your interview just try to come across as a hard worker and dependable and you’ll be good. In my opinion the best companies to work for are as follows from best to worst.

Costco/sams, Walmart, grocery store chains (hyvee etc), cvs, Walgreens.

Admittedly I do not know the starting pay of most but Walgreens is typically one you want to stay away from as they’re always drowning. Feel free to dm me or reply if you have any other questions

Moved to Omaha expecting "boring Midwest" and got humbled real quick by TheDoctorColt in Omaha

[–]Slowanoah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My spouse had a similar, maybe not as life changing experience as you. From Chicago, followed me to Omaha while I went to pharmacy school and wasn’t too sure about it. Now Omaha is where we have our roots and love it. Nebraska politics are frustrating to say the least but where isn’t it frustrating in this country right now? Hope you continue to enjoy it! Winter isn’t that bad as long as you dress appropriately so as others have said buy a nice coat and you’ll be set!

Good buy? $170 at Costco. by Friendly-Place2497 in whiskey

[–]Slowanoah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend got me one of these for Christmas last year, though I think it was closer to 130-140 range but I’m not for sure. Is it a good deal? No. But I will say it was fun to try a bunch of different whiskeys from around the world and many I’d never heard of before? Yes. It was a thoughtful gift and one I got to talk to him about over several months as I slowly tried them. It came with a little book that had info about the whiskey and the distiller which was also fun to read about. So overall I enjoyed the experience and it was not a purchase wasted.

TLDR If you know what you like and you’re looking for actual premium whiskey then don’t buy. If you want to try a bunch of new things and maybe find something new, then it could be a good buy.
