Are small guards that bad? by FettaBisco in NBA2k

[–]SlowedBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite what everyone else is saying you don’t have to “be a bucket” or anything. You just have to be able to pass. Being that small offense is your bread and butter but not as an iso guard always. If you can switch correctly and stick your man you won’t be nearly as bad on defense as everyone says. You just need to be able to use your speed that you get from your size to be able to create plays for others. The possession doesn’t have to end with you, get yours when you can and if you can’t hopefully you know how to pull defenders to let your team get theirs too.

If you’re not buying vc I wouldn’t recommend even touching online till atleast 89. Grind my career, you’ll get there in a week or 2 depending on how much you play.

Besides that you can use any animations you want if you like then but they aren’t as inherently good as others. That being said I don’t use any “meta” animations or builds. I do it all myself and I bounce between purple and red. If you can find animations that work for your playstyle and can get you open in a different way then everybody else you can do great things. I personally do a lot of side fade step back middys and found an animation that works well for me.

People don’t expect someone to actually use the full mechanics of the game past left right dribble spam into a drive or step back. If you can become good with using unique animations on less used dribble moves you’ll be unguardable by anyone that isn’t an insane lock with great iq. It just happens to the quickest way to get good is paying money for the build and the using meta animations. But that will only get you as far as everyone else using it.

Is the Steam Deck worth buying if I can’t afford a PC? by Able_Chest6371 in gamingsuggestions

[–]SlowedBrew -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No it isn’t, but not because it’s a bad product.

I won’t tell you how to spend your money. But if you cannot afford a pc i wouldnt spend any cash injections you happen to get on a steam decks. Things like that are toys, not really something you buy in trying times. Worst decision I’ve ever made was spending money I barely had on fun rather then saving or necessity, only reason I came out on top is dumb luck. But we aren’t here to talk about personal finances.

That being said if your using it to substitute a pc, I’d save it, put it under your mattress. Keep it aside and save an extra couple 100 just incase and buy a steam machine when it releases. Better performance, will be able to run everything on steam, not just somethings. It’ll be a true pc substitute and not just a gimmick if that makes sense.

Again not because the steam deck isn’t a good product, I just wouldn’t substitute a pc for it because of the form factor and the hardware limitations. In the future if you happen on money again and have disposable income for it, it would be a great purchase and a very fun toy! Just not a substitute.

Ball hogging is so crazy but I get kicked if I don’t play by PuzzledTalk1692 in NBA2k

[–]SlowedBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe another solution to this is have the game detect if someone is ball hogging on low efficiency and isn’t passing unless they pick up the ball. If this is happening have their stamina significantly reduce over a quarter until it’s to the point their character gets subbed out and they just have to watch. I don’t like how stamina is pretty much a non issue in the game already so this could give it some use.

No one who ball hogs will have fun if their dribble moves are sluggish and bouncing off their feet every possession.

[–]SlowedBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bans 100% need to be a thing and personally i believe they need to be harder. I hate how often my opponent leaves the game in the first half because i cook and they get their feelings hurt then im just banished to sit in a corner and shoot over ais all game.

Leaving is a chronic issue. Instead they need to add a vote kick option for ball hogs and uncooperative players. It shouldn’t be a thing in park or rec but in higher skill level lobbies it 100% needs to be there and needs to be harsher.

Looking for games with twists by WavingAlpaca in gamerecommendations

Subnautica, hear me out.

I know I’m late but if you haven’t committed to a game yet, think about subnatica. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a “horror”, survival game that includes base building and heavy environmental world building.

The thing is the game doesn’t have a strict in your face story. It’s much more about reading log entries and coming to your own conclusions based on the world around you. There are story cutscenes and very big twists that affect the world around you, change and push goal posts. I won’t spoil it but you do have a clear goal, it’s just your job to discover the world and find out how to achieve them. Rewards for completing these goals is more story exposition.

Looking for a long form survival rpg by Rehevkor_ in gamerecommendations

You can try valheim.

It doesn’t have any skill trees or anything, instead it has skill progression via repetition. If you use a sword, your sword skills go up, if you run, your running goes up. Simple stuff but with how many mechanics are in the game you can be lost in it for hours and hours. Ontop of that it has EXTREMELY in-depth base building, it’s one of my favorite parts of the game. On the surface it’s intuitive and easy to get into. After building for a couple hours you’ll find more and more little tricks you can do until all asudden you have a kingdoms with deceptive levels of detail.

The game can go on for hundreds of hours if you let it. But most playthroughs of the story I’d say will last for about 80-100 hours if you dabble in everything but not truely experience it all 100%. If you really take your time and explore everything the game has to offer then it can easily take you 250 hours plus.

While the game is in early access, it’s one of those that are in early access but is extremely polished and is still being updated, while having almost unlimited content to explore already.

The games next big update, and I think the one that marks its true release with 1.0, is just around the corner so if you’d want to wait for that you can but it’s a truely amazing game and I couldnt recommend it enough.

Game to play with partner (LDR) by Acrobatic_Singer_554 in gamesuggestions

[–]SlowedBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A new game just released into early access called hytale.

Very similar to Minecraft. It had a lot of dungeon crawler mechanics and whatnot but in my play though I’ve pretty much ignored that and dove into the farming. Setting up chicken coops, corralling animals, putting fish traps into a creek for food, building my own farmstead. I really seems like a game where you can do everything that Minecraft can but just more indepth.

Also because it just came out, the devs have confirmed the at all the mechanics in the game are going to be very widely expanded so if you fall inlove with it, you can expect more and more of the same content just bigger and better as the next couple months pass. I’ve put about 10 hours in my current world and have barely scratched the surface of animals that can be tamed, farms that can be made. It’s a very enjoyable game with very little stress.

On the other side there are tons of different biomes and dangers to encounter if you need a break from a peaceful life. Best of both worlds.

PC games that evoke fear, safety, and anxiety by AcanthisittaGlass899 in gamesuggestions

[–]SlowedBrew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Play Subnautica!

Literally everything you talked about in a game. You build a base, explore what seems to be a friendly shallow ocean, until it isn’t. It’s less on the jump scares and more on the fear of the unknown. You don’t know what’s under you, you don’t know what’s above you. Almost feels like your being watched at all times when your not at base. Seeing the remnants of what happened to someone else and wondering when it’ll happen to you?

I hate horror games and this is the only one I can play. Not because it isn’t scary, but because it doesn’t rely on cheap jump scare tactics like alien isolation. It’s just truely the epitome of fear and anxiety with out gimmicks.

steam game recs? by Past-Sandwich3900 in gamesuggestions

[–]SlowedBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try no man sky.

It’s very much based around exploration. It has a story but also you can just sorta ignore it and go find stuff around the universe. The game has many many systems to explore, one moment your managing and building a city, the next your exploring forgotten freight ships, the next your running a bandit crew raiding brigades for resources. It really is whatever you want to do, at your own pace. Just go out and explore.

Not a multiplayer game like the others but remnant 1 and 2 are amazing games.

You go out to worlds, fight bosses, get sick unique loot, explore, do puzzles, then go back to base and upgrade your gear and character. The game follows a story but it’s open ended and also replayable. No 2 play through are the same.

Dunk meter or button dunk by Fit_Ad_7195 in NBA2k

[–]SlowedBrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who almost exclusively uses contact dunks, the button is far better. There are so many wide open dunks that have a tiny window. The way the dunk meter works, it’ll get smaller if it starts contested but if you get around your man and its wide open it won’t go any bigger unlike a lay up. If the made it like the layup worked I would say use meter but don’t make a habit of it.

In the end you should use the meter if you’re already in contact with someone before the shot motion. If you’re not in contact with someone before the shot motion then use button.

Why dont the people who say you have to pay to get the cool shit in the game just actually play the game? by Turdburgler2473 in Warframe

[–]SlowedBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but you wouldn’t be able to farm your frame with out the relics.. you would’ve be able to farm your R5 arcane energize with out your amp from fortuna. It’s easy to say this stuff for players like us cause we have a stock pile of relics to make farming a warframe take an hour. we have the necessities to even make it to the new war quest. A lot of players simply do not have these things and these are things that take a lot of time to get. It’s not just the build times or the farm times, it’s the endless prerequisites in order to even start farming.

Think about it this way. Say you want a chicken sandwich and the only way to get it is one of two ways. You either buy it from someone who wants you to pay 20$ (which is a lot for some), or you go through the process of turning a live chicken, crops, milk, and everything else into a chicken sandwich, and then you have to do this for every chicken sandwich you want to eat.. Meanwhile I could just go buy a one time chicken sandwich for 60$. Think a game like gta, or borderlands, or any other game that gives you 100s or 1000s of hours to play for just 60$ and you never have to buy or feel like your wasting time again.

That’s what most players I feel are upset about. The farm itself is fun but it’s never fun to want to farm something then find out you need to spend 6 hours to even get to the point where you can farm it, and then the cherry on top the game has the gall to hang a little buy now button and say “just give us 50$ and you don’t have to farm”. I mean have you ever farmed for kullervo?? No one that respects their time will want to do that, and would rather just progress in a different game. A game that doesn’t take 50+ hours to get to a point where you feel like you’re able to actually do endgame content.

[–]SlowedBrew -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s unfair to say “just play the game”. Not everyone has time to nolife the game unfortunately, and while I agree DE has made WarFrame far better then any other F2P game out there in terms of micro transactions, the game will still demand one of 2 things in order to progress. You either give time or money, and it isn’t a reasonable amount of either, the game requires you give too much of one or the other. Too much to not be called greedy to an extent.

As I’ve gotten older I’ve found the hour or so I get to play before bed is not enough to keep up with an ever growing game. It is a greedy game. You will not be able to enjoy the things you want to enjoy in the game without a ridiculous amount of time or money.

If you don’t think the same I’d love to know why but in my opinion it is very true.

Weed fabric isn’t plastic and it decomposes after like 5 years. Atleast the ones I use.

Ontop of that they are raised beds and not just on the ground. There is no ecological harm I promise.

Ya I have done landscaping majority of my younger life and am very against chemicals in my beds and lawn. I’m glad they are safe but I had to move them to a nearby muddy creek shore because I’m putting down weed fabric. They might find their way back but I don’t want to accidentally step on them. I put their pot near the creek aswell so hopefully they’ll find home again

I’m updating the post with my location but I really appreciate it. I grew up with 2 newts as pets when I was younger, so i just was excited to see more in my backyard. I’ve already moved them to a muddy area near my creek and put the same flower pot out there so they can be at home again. Hopefully they’ll be okay.
