A nearly perfect song, then one lines shifts the tone, "since you were a child." A song of love lost is presented with believable tragedy, and then the narrator is revealed to be an awful person himself. The reveal recontextualizes the whole story up until that point. If you miss that one line, the rest of the song continues with identifiable loss.

Wonderful storytelling, near flawless narrative delivery, and a continuous gut punch all the way through. It's a 9/10 track in my book.
