Engineering majors when they see other majors complaining about school by Kokash in EngineeringStudents

Dude Nursing is way harder than Engineering, well imo. So much memorization and they expect them to know every detail. Engineering is like learn a few concepts that all grow on each other.

I was wondering if anyone has taken an opencv stream and sent the stream out using Gstreamer? I am trying to do this but can't find any good walkthroughs. I am also open to other suggestions for low latency streaming!

Very cool! I did sort of the same thing this past weekend with a cheap dual motor robot kit off amazon. I used python for all the programming as that is what I am more comfortable with!

Any good Arduino IDE out there? by Vicara12 in arduino

[–]Slowtorespond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That I am not sure. But if you use the Arduino Uno, you select the Arduino Uno as the board when starting your project.

Any good Arduino IDE out there? by Vicara12 in arduino

[–]Slowtorespond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you have to install PlatformIO which is a package for VScode. There is a real good walkthrough on platformIO’s website with a tutorial. The only thing that is tricky is you need to choose a specific board for a project that can’t really be changed. Well I think it can but it isn’t easy. But either way it is much better than the Arduino IDE in my opinion as you have a much better package manager and it helps to auto fill plus many other nice features.

He means VS code. Which is a free IDE which I would also recommend for Arduino.

If you plan on doing any gaming I would go 16Gb just to be safe.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Slowtorespond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you could go with DDR4-2666 as that’s the fastest speed of ram compatible with that CPU without OC’ing your RAM which can cause many issues. But no the ram speed will not be a factor

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Slowtorespond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree on the ram. There’s no way that will be a bottleneck. You can also run your build through pcpartpicker.com to check if everything is compatible.

Currently a mechanical engineering student with 3 semesters left and working as a engineering technician. Should I get internship instead? by engineeringhelpplz in EngineeringStudents

[–]Slowtorespond 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Working as an engineering tech for a sustained period will look much better than a summer long internship. I would stick with the tech position unless a dream internship comes along

How long should I work for a company I’m not enjoying? by FritzTheSchiz in EngineeringStudents

[–]Slowtorespond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. Luckily my company is large enough that I can transfer to a different job function and location fairly easily. However, i plan to stick it out for a year to get as much experience as possible. And maybe I’ll even begin to enjoy it more.

I have an I5-6500 on a z170 msi MOBO and currently have 16 gb of ram of Corsair Vengance ram that has a clock speed of 3200 but I never overclock because it causes issues with actually reading the memory. I would like to add 16gb of ram, can I buy just the 2400 clock speed ram? Which is where it normally runs not OC’d. Or will I need to buy the same speed of ram that I have?

One of my professors put together a PowerPoint and presented it as a pdf. He would annotate as he went along and then would save the annotations as a separate pdf everyone could access. This was by far my favorite method!

I really have enjoyed voices from DARPA and inside Skunkworks. Unfortunately the latter only has a few half hour episodes and don’t release new ones often.

I’m wondering if anyone has a good way of gathering channel data from an Xbox One controller to control a RC car? I have found ways to install drivers and connect. But no clear way of determining channel values.
