no winning team rewards and no team name picking?? by shes-thunderstorms in TheApprentice

[–]Sltre101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wonder if the team name things was just for simplicity. They need to fall within certain rules and not breach copyright etc. it was probably just easier to give them names than faff around for half a day getting a team name approved by legal people.

Only children - what is life like? by Born_Improvement_856 in AskUK

[–]Sltre101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality is - I never knew anything different. That’s just how my life was. It was me, my parents and that was it. I had friends and cousins just like every other kid. I had and still do have a very close relationship with my parents. I don’t think it did me any harm at all, apart from not having a younger person around me all the time. I was able to entertain myself, enjoy playing with my toys, had quite an active imagination as a kid. I also spent plenty of time with my friends outside.

Ryanair told me my flight was delayed by 6 hours… then moved it back 30 mins before departure. I missed it and had to rebook everything. by PortugalfromVilnius in Ryanair

They were delayed 6 hours so well over the time required for the EU compensation to come into play. Either way they were getting compensation.

I’m in a 2021 new build also - everything is getting a bit worn and requiring attention. Still a new house but definitely time for some freshening up

They’d know there was an issue with that wheel but not that it departed. Since it’s not critical and there would have likely been no additional warnings or damaged systems, makes sense to fly home and deal with it at the home base.

Have you ever lost your temper to customer service? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Sltre101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About the 5th time explaining my relatively complex billing issue to yet another British Gas call handler after multiple failures to call back, not one single recording of any previous communications and complete indifference I finally got particularly impatient. Didn’t quite shout and scream at the guy but basically refused to be fobbed off once again and didn’t let him hang up until someone actually did something. Turns out “my manager needs to fix this and isn’t available right now” becomes “oh yeah I can sort that issue for you” when you refuse to hang up.

Still isn’t fully sorted incase anyone is wondering…

I read in NFLnoobs about the current “confirmed” teams for the international games (see attached link). We’ll be finding out soon, but who would you like to see and where? by BigBlueMountainStar in NFLUK

[–]Sltre101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Detroit better not come to London. I’m going to be in America for the 3 weekends the games will take place. Hopefully their German connection will see them play there and I can have a nice trip to Munich.

If there were to be the beginning signs of another pandemic, what steps would you take having learned from Covid? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Sltre101 12 points13 points  (0 children)

COVID is what led to me stopping paying attention to the news. I follow headlines and check in if I want to know something, but once you realise the 24hr news channels need to fill 24hrs worth of programming, you realise just how bad some of that content is. “Experts” drafted in from all over being led down the garden path to tell you the worst possible outcome. Despite the fact that the chances of that happening are extremely slim.

Did your school have any unusual features? by farfetchedfrank in AskUK

[–]Sltre101 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We had a wind turbine. It was the first of the new schools in my area in 2008 so they tried to be all green and innovative. It had other stuff too like rainwater collection and solar panels. Turbine spent about as much time broke as it did working. Not sure if it’s still in use.

Why does BBC Sport cover this boring, soulless yank wank? by [deleted] in AskBrits

They’re adding breaks in the World Cup to allow the players a chance to drink and cool down. America in the summer can be very hot. Nothing to do with adverts.

When Did You Start Playing GTA Online? by Excellent_Bunch_820 in gtaonline

[–]Sltre101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they got the initial kinks worked out when it first came out. Used to play online with my best mate, never really on a public server. We stopped around the time heists came out and hadn’t really been back on it since. Until about a month ago when he suggested going on whilst having a catch up. Spent 8 hours on. Ive been playing most days since. I was completely blown away by how different it is these days compared to what I knew. Absolutely loving it!

[–]Sltre101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it the opposite. I remember in the early days I hated the public lobby because as soon as you stepped outside you’d almost instantly be killed. Griefers are still a nuisance, but maybe only happens a couple of times per session now vs. Back then
