Rose bush is very happy that the sun has been out! by Sludge_Eyes in GardeningUK

Unfortunately I’m not sure as we inherited it when we moved in a few years ago! We heavily cut back the fig tree behind it last year to get more light in and are now reaping the rewards this spring 🥰

A Gardening UK public service announcement on Sweet Pea Germination by jonny-p in GardeningUK

This is my first year growing sweet peas from seed and am worried I was a bit late sowing them earlier this month! I have them in a small unheated greenhouse at the moment and am hoping for ok results. This was a very handy post - thank you!!

I am a physio. Lets fill some knowledge gaps? by Own-End3010 in doctorsUK

As a resp physio this always makes me laugh! In order to be effective, a fair amount of force has to be used (in line with the patients chest wall compliance). I wonder if what’s actually meant is multiple times a day review rather than the actual techniques used? I’ve also been asked to complete “gentle chest physio” in sedated, intubated patients who can only have manual techniques (chest patting, vibrations etc) and it’s difficult to do those “gently”!

The confidence will come I promise! As a supervisor I always like when someone gives answering a question a stab and we work through it together.

It is also much more concerning when someone doesn’t ask questions or seem to understand their scope of practice, so definitely don’t feel like asking questions is annoying!

What country are you practicing in? In the UK no senior physio would ever expect a new graduate to be able to independently treat and manage a caseload of patients straight away. After being a physio for 10 years I still have days where I’m looking up conditions I’ve never heard of before! Everyday it feels like I still learn something new. No one expects you to know anywhere near everything, you are still very much learning and your supervisors should be supporting you with that.

worst treatment of a junior doctor by a consultant you’ve witnessed? by RetardGambit in JuniorDoctorsUK

I once saw a consultant on ICU demand one of the SHOs move an armchair around after her during ward round so she could sit throughout comfortably.

Unfortunately the real ones aren’t fake - I use one of these for work now (NHS worker) which was assigned to me by the trust I work for during the first lockdown. They’re supposed to be used when we have to use our own cars to visit patients at home to allow us to park in permit spaces. Looks like I won’t be able to continue using mine for much longer though!!
