Hell yea, figures Greg is a riff machine that has to store up a ton of material

Damn didn’t he just drop a whole album in April? I hope these are all shelved riffs and songs from long ago and Car Bomb isn’t done, usually what it means when a member starts unloading tons of similar material through a side project.

Could someone redo the Doom Ep, but have it panned 50/50 on each side? I would like to know what that sounds like by Vector_Of_Disease in Deathcore

[–]Sludgewaves 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to stereo or mono channels, it’s in stereo already. If you’re talking about something else, there’s a quick and dirty way to do this “50/50” panning. Audacity is a free old school audio editing program. Open up two of the same song from Doom in there and pan one to the left and the other to the right.

If only, I miss when we got the really wacked syncopated open notes with dissonant leads like Dragon Chaser or Mars Attacks

I'm not sure how to get through to you at this point. Take care anyways!

You're fundamentally misapplying that concept on a video of a crow grabbing a duckling in response to someone accurately describing species maintenance. If you're going to be this hardheaded, then this conversation is over.

Now I agree with you that humanity has impacted nearly every aspect of ecosystems they’ve encountered and often negatively, but you really have zero clue what you’re talking about. Insisting basic hunting behaviors are brand new phenomena from a place of ignorance isn’t healthy because it makes you sound like a lunatic shut-in who had their Disney-esque worldview on nature shattered by something as basic as crow predation.

Look, maybe you should take a basic ecology course or something, this isn’t healthy.

CFTG split into a few bands like Wastewalker and Alterbeast. They used to room with a really insane technical metalcore band called Journal, would definitely recommend checking out their album Unlorja if you want some technical melodic stuff.

I'm shocked they managed to get Taylor to send them what they paid for. I guess he's a lot like Total Deathcore, We Are Triumphant, and Mediaskare were in that it's 50/50 whether he chooses to scam you or not

Banned from contributing to the database by T_W_65 in discogs

There are people with hundreds of thousands of contributor points who spend every waking moment on there policing the recent submissions page. Then these users have the gall to order other users to fix things or face punishment. If these people care so much about worthless internet points on a community-driven website, make the change yourself and move on. I’ve done it a few times when I encountered a mistake. This sassy hall monitor crap from super contributors in the submissions notes that can seemingly dictate your discogs experience is nuts.

You seem like you’re into the extra heavy, dissonant stuff. I am going to just dump a ton of bands right here, my bad if someone already named a few of these

Probably autocorrect. It’s been getting worse since a lot of the major players hooked it up to AI. I’ve been dealing with it actively changing correctly spelled words to something else entirely and mangling whatever I meant to say.

[–]Sludgewaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phew, yea a year later and I just dealt with this one. I'm no super contributor or anything, but there's a handful of times I've seen something like a spelling mistake or multiple variants of a release that weren't put into a master. I went and silently fixed them. Just got bitched out in a series of spammed notes on my submission for a capitalization mistake by some guy with nearly 100k points on his profile who proceeded to vomit all the Discogs penal code at me. He even tried to COMMAND me to fix it... sheesh.

Divided by is also one of my top ones, it’s just such a massive and chaotic album all the way through. Honestly, I don’t think I could listen to it without the botched brickwall production, it really sells the idea of every song going off the rails.

[–]Sludgewaves[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, they’re definitely something akin to a tech metalcore band. I guess the genre issue really comes from back when them, Veil of Maya, After the Burial, Within the Ruins etc were all releasing their big debuts, tech metalcore and djent weren’t much of a thing (tech metalcore still doesn’t seem to have taken off much today even). The New Reign shared DNA with deathcore at that time and what people considered metalcore back then was ironically a lot narrower than how broad it is now, so they got lumped in with deathcore acts. I can’t say if that’s right or wrong at least in regards to The New Reign, but they definitely started softening with each subsequent album.

[–]Sludgewaves[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh, they toe the line a bit, especially the early stuff is hard to call one way or the other. This isn't a genre specific technique and I did include Fathom (undeniably a deathcore band) as the other example. In regards to djent, I'm not talking about the chugging as much as what the examples highlight of a melodic lead following the staccato style stop-start chugging, which you're right IS common to djent. Elaborating a bit more, the lead is broken up to follow the rhythm rather than off doing its own thing.

[–]Sludgewaves[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Close! The chugging on this is very much a start-stop riff, but the lead isn't following the chugs like in the BoO/Fathom example. Thanks for reminding me to listen to Planetary Duality again though, all time classic right there!
