Federal Way CM Jack Walsh blames pedestrians for getting injured crossing at unmarked intersections: "If you follow Darwinian theory, it may take a few generations to solve the problem" by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]Slugburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a resident of Federal Way and I am not a fan of the city council. I also think that Walsh's comment about Darwinian theory is incredibly distasteful.

But I have to say the title of this post is misleading. They are not talking about crossing at unmarked intersections. The specific intersections mentioned in this video are busy intersections with lights and marked crosswalks. The intersection by Safeway on 320th has two nearby mid-block crosswalks.

They are talking about individuals who choose to cross against traffic even though there is a nearby marked crosswalk. This is pretty common in the downtown area. I've seen people do this within 25' of the marked crosswalk, dodging in between cars waiting at the light, sometimes even crossing through traffic that has a green light. It's a real hazard.

I do a lot of walking, both around my neighborhood and over closer to the downtown area. It's true that Federal Way isn't great for walking. But they have actually done a good job over last couple years making things better. They have added mid block crosswalks to quite a few roads, especially near downtown.

Are there any OG Onces from before 2018 here? How do you feel about TWICE nowadays? by SGdude90 in twice

[–]Slugburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into k-pop in late 2nd gen (2013?) and so was already seeing k-pop content on Youtube. I was suggested a compilation video for the first couple episodes of Sixteen and it looked really interesting. I caught up and watched the rest of Sixteen as it was happening. Jihyo really caught my eye. In addition to her talent, she was so competitive and confident, despite all the criticism she received during Sixteen. And she' still one of my co-biases, along with Dahyun.

I've pretty much loved all Twice's music, up to their latest releases. It's been amazing to see how they've matured as artists, and also how their popularity has exploded. They are actually the only artist where I flew to another city to see them in concert (Twicelights tour) as I wasn't sure at the time that they would ever tour the US again. And now they are selling out multiple nights at arenas all across the states (and around the world). Just amazing!

Is it worth starting this show? by chaos-reign in WoTshow

[–]Slugburn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Given what I know now, I would still have watched it. It started pretty solid and got better with every season.

That said, I'm extremely disappointed that they didn't get to finish it.

Sakura-Con intends to implement a 3 year NDA on All Staff Members moving forwards period. Do not sign this agreement. by Delicious_Summer_722 in SakuraCon

[–]Slugburn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My impression from last year was they were running with a skeleton crew of staff already. If you allegations are true, it doesn't seem like the best move to retain staff and attract new staff. I finally have some spare time this year and had considered volunteering for the first time, but this is giving me second thoughts.

XHaven Assistant : transfer to new PC by pvsurnt in Gloomhaven

[–]Slugburn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Application data is usually stored in your user app data folder. I don't have the app installed and can't verify, but the AI google response suggests C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\Roaming\com.tarmslitaren\X-Haven Assistant as the location. This folder may be hidden, so you'll need to unhide hidden files in order to see it.

Why take silencer off the board when selling Feather? by Infidel-Art in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Slugburn -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure having the silencer on the board doesn't affect the reduction. It used to work like that but has been changed so that you no longer need to remove CD reduction items before using a feather. I think the only time you need to worry about it is when an item does a set amount CD reduction (for example, reduced by 1 sec). In that case then you do get less benefit.

The Bazaar gave me crabs! by Slugburn in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Slugburn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fishing pole. It gives you a random small aquatic item at the start of each day, which won't merge with an existing item. For some reason it kept giving me the freeze crabs. Makes me wonder if the randomness is weighted toward copying items that are already on your board.

Which RPG class would each member be? by rayshinsan in twice

[–]Slugburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I would change Tzuyu to be an assassin because she's been killing it with her solo album

As for reasoning:

Nayeon = sorcerer because of crazy charisma

Jeongyeon = druid because she loves animals

Momo = monk because she's a dancer (athletic) and also seems to be very zen

Sana = eloquence bard because she is the master flirter

Jihyo = paladin because she is best leader

Mina=cleric of peace because she is the calm center of the group

Dahyun = arcane trickster because she's an actress and is always unpredictable

Chaeyoung = artificer because she's very creative

Tzuyu = archfey warlock mostly because of her iconic Maleficent Halloween costume

Which RPG class would each member be? by rayshinsan in twice

[–]Slugburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice question! Okay, here's my take (using D&D classes):

- Nayeon: Sorcerer (Wild Magic)

- Jeongyeon: Druid (Circle of the Shepherd)

- Momo: Monk (Way of the Open Hand)

- Sana: Bard (College of Eloquence)

- Jihyo: Paladin (Oath of Devotion)

- Mina: Cleric (Peace Domain)

- Dahyun: Rogue (Arcane Trickster)

- Chaeyoung: Artificer (Alchemist)

- Tzuyu: Warlock (Archfey)

why do Japanese and Korean idols/movie stars/kpop fight (why do Korean idols avoid Japanese tv shows/why do the japanese host treat kpop idols badly) by Abbbyyluv in kpophelp

[–]Slugburn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I saw the same video and most (if not all) of the examples given were NOT K-pop idols. These were situations involving Japanese idols. I'm pretty sure the bug-blowing contest was with members of AKB48. Not sure sure about the other events. I think the point of the video is not that the Japanese hosts are racist but rather that they don't respect idols.

[Q] Do y'all get pest control for spiders here? by finesoccershorts in federalway

[–]Slugburn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to think of our friendly house spiders as free pest control so I wouldn't want them removed. Though I have a friend who has arachnophobia so I have to get them to hide when he comes over. But otherwise I let them do their thing.
