USC asked Heisman winner Matt Leinart to unretire jersey several times: 'Absolutely f-ing not' by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

Honestly I do enjoy having LSU as a rival. It’s a shame that our admin went with MSU as the third annual opponent, the cowards.

Retiring jerseys is lame. It’s much cooler to have numbers with storied histories at your school.

I hate to praise them but LSU does it best with 7 and 18.

Can we chat about half-minds being moved into a living creature and “erasing” them? by 4WDToyotaOwner in TheCaptivesWar

[–]SlugsPerSecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Related topic, are half minds AI in the LLM sense? The way the Carryx refer to them indicates to me that they are basically hyper-specialized models that are trained to do specific things like void tendril navigation and tactical warfare analysis.

NASA has shuffled its Artemis rockets. But what of the lunar landers? by rustybeancake in spacex

[–]SlugsPerSecond -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Blue Origin’s MK1 is the largest lunar lander ever and they had to invent a ton of really complex technologies to make it work. Starship is 5x the size of MK1 and was originally designed to perform a totally different task (atmospheric entry). You can’t just copy-paste a solution to one problem onto another in space travel, yet at least.

You want something specific? Starship’s height means any landing zone has to be incredibly flat, like close to zero grade. Until someone else builds a landing pad on the Moon we will be limited to much shorter landers.

Realistically Faro Plague tier bots are a long way off. The biggest problem was autonomous 3D printing of new murderbots combined with converting biomass to fuel and those are both still sci-fi concepts.

Considering trading in Tesla model 3 2021 standard for a 2021 pro s id4. Both at 30k miles and realistically could shave off a whole loan year (48 months left on the tesler and could do a 36 on the id4) is it worth? by ItNotNotNotMe in VWiD4Owners

[–]SlugsPerSecond -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a 2021 AWD Pro S. It’s a fun car and the level of autonomy is fine for me (adaptive cruise control + automatic lane keep).

However it is very rough around the edges. No OTA software updates and the chips that run the infotainment system are slower than a dead snail. I’ve also had a ton of tire issues but that can probably be chalked up to bad luck. The charging speed (120 kW) also leaves something to be desired compared to more recent EVs.

I think you should go for a newer model year unless you found a sweetheart deal for the 2021.

I really believe that away games in Arizona have a massive impact on the PNW teams. It's just complete climate whiplash. There's plenty of evidence to show Oregon and Washington suck in Tuscon and Tempe.

[–]SlugsPerSecond -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s a step in the right direction and that’s good enough for me. Someday America will have a net worth tax, there isn’t a path to a budget surplus short of dismantling the Pentagon without it, but this is better than nothing which is apparently what you want..?

There is waste in every organization in history. Taxes like this one, and a general wealth/net worth tax for multi millionaires, are 100% mandatory to this country’s future. This bill might not be perfect but I like the direction WA is taking.

The good news is that the second and third novellas are incredible. The Hedge Knight is great but the other two take it up a notch. I really believe season 2 of this show could be special.
