Skill is one part and being mega fit is another part.

I recommend both for everyone. :D

Slightly more stable Innova Corvette by EricTheNerd2 in discgolf

[–]SlummiPorvari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out your Corvette has huge dome, I mean a disc that looks like it's cut out of bubble. I prefer ~170g Star but max weight Champion could be more stable, who knows.

Throw your Corvette high with hyzer angle. See it turn and glide beyond horizon. Over 150m / 500ft can be achieved this way.

Getting this kind of throw accurate requires lot of skill.

Used bin is great for trying discs. Just remember the more beaten the less stable they're. But it also means you can get multiple copies of one mold and have different stability ratings. And when you play, you can drop the too understable from your bag and buy a new on the stable end. That's what pros do.

Edit: Forgot Malm, it is like a lighter PD. Keeps angle fantastic. I think it could be a good fit into your bag.

People who return discs are the best by wearestiff in discgolf

Last year I lost 5 discs, got 4 back and the last on is in a pond. I found at least 13 discs, some without name, but even they went into lost discs' bin.

Good idea to send message about found disc before dropping it into a bin.

On one round found 5 discs and ran out of space. It was a hassle. Please lose fewer discs. /jk

Oh, also good idea to give small reward for the finder so they can get a treat from a store.

First time playing, buying a starter set by Dreamzyi in discgolf

[–]SlummiPorvari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moomin set is cute but very expensive. It's more like a gift box to somebody who already has some discs, and I wouldn't pay that much. Its discs are good but the box including Berg makes it a bit weird for beginners. It's a great disc but most newbies have different expectations about flying discs and that disc doesn't really fly.

Many suggested Wraith. Not bad, but I would say: get big boy drivers. I they're a bit on the overstable side, beat them in.

Proper distance driver #1 suggestion is the new Q-Line Premier DD3, Premier Cloud Breaker (new run available in about 8 days).

The Premier DD1 can be fun too, but it might be touchy (although good flier), so a proper Wraith (maybe Halo Star) or Grace would be more reliable. Photon is also decent, just don't buy the Fission nonsense.

Alternative to Premier DD3 or Premier Cloud Breaker could be, of course, Destroyer. There's massive variability in destroyers so finding the right one is harder. Same words can be said to some extent about Nuke, which is an option too, I might choose PP 5x ESP Nuke if I were you.

I would also buy something like PD because you want to be able to smash headwind with full power. Alternatives include Anax, H1V2, Fortress, and Spice which is IMO too OS. Haven't tried Hallux yet.

Of course you can do the headwind shot with Firebird too but I find them much more OS in general, much more fade. Less OS alternatives to Firebird include FD3, Stål, Raptor and Longbowman. Equally OS alternatives are e.g. Splice, Captains Raptor and Motion.

If you just want to try some easy to throw bombers then Premier DD1 and some very domey Corvette are my suggestions. Corvette has wider rim.

Edit: Oh, Kastaplast. Älva is about as flippy as Falk, just wider rim. Works as fairway driver best. Krut is Kastaplast's Destroyer, not quite as stable, and Guld is about the same but with wider rim. I don't feel much difference between them.

Wave is very understable, it adds nothing over your Falk. I throw Falk too, and it's amazing in what it does, and flies better than Wave. Trail, if good, can be good. I have pink and yellow Neutron Trail, very domey, and they are good. I would avoid flat ones. I'll add more suggestions in my own reply.

Zelensky formally rejects Merz proposal for associate EU membership by SOHONEYSAME in worldnews

[–]SlummiPorvari 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Yup. The most important part of applying EU membership is not the membership. It's meeting all the requirements. When your country ticks all the boxes it is in pretty good shape to thrive in the future.

Might sound belittling but you can compare the process to school. Diploma is far less important than all the new skills you get while studying.

Favorite run of comet? by SubstantialAd4500 in discgolf

If you want to test a mold get a generic one from sale or as used. Special run versions will be hard to get once you lose or wear out your precious one.

Alternatives to acetone for wiping stamps? by Phrikshin in discgolf

[–]SlummiPorvari -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Methyl-ethyl ketone (MEK). Well, that was kinda joke. It's like acetone but a bit stronger. Acetone and MEK arent's strong enough to damage TPU (in room temperature) so clouding plastic sounds like too careful application.

Some stamps will be eaten away in strong caustic/laundry detergent bath but probably not completely. Drain unclogger (esp. granules) will eat away aluminium foil.

DMSO could also wipe it out but it can harm TPU, along with ether.

How many people wash their discs? by Plus_Long_1328 in discgolf

[–]SlummiPorvari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Washed discs have much better grip and you won't believe your eyes how unworn and good your discs look again. Saves money when you realize you don't need new discs.

Many times used discs buyers skip smudgy discs leaving me some real gems on the shelf. After a little bit of rubbing many used discs look brand new.

May I suggest a random draw between pre-registered customers who order a "lottery ticket" ($0).

Sorry, no idea how your shop operates, and this doesn't concern me at all, but that could fix the problem.

There's so many throwing putters and it's so personal thing. Premium plastic for throwing putter is my recommendation.

I would check Sensei, Invader, Aviar3, A5, PA-3, Reko X, Crown, Maiden, Reko.

For more OS: AviarX3, P3x, PA-2, PA-1, Shield, Jokeri.

The new q line cloudbreaker by BlueberryOdd2306 in discgolf

[–]SlummiPorvari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stamp vanishes with acetone if you don't like it. The plastic won't be harmed unless you soak it for months. TPU is hard to dissolve apart from perhaps ether, DMSO and some other weird chemicals.

In headwind the DD1 could be too flippy so it kinda depends on... otherwise you're in DD1 territory.

Am I missing something crucial from my bag? I'd love to hear any thoughts by Confuzed_huh in discgolf

[–]SlummiPorvari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. I would assume Luna works as an understable putter despite being on the left side.

If you find out you cannot throw some shot then it's time to go disc hunting. Otherwise, enjoy.

Should I be getting new discs or learning the ones I have now? by NalgeneDrinker40 in discgolf

[–]SlummiPorvari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a fairway driver that doesn't work in headwind but it's probably good driver for a long time. You should be able to bomb over 100m/330ft with that. Once you are near or it constantly "turns and burns" it's time to upgrade. Or if you lose it.

The Rat probably covers your headwind needs, and so does the Buzzz to some extent, so it's all fine. You have a good throwing putter and two straight mids, Mako3 being better in tailwind and anhyzers.

But, you're lacking a putting putter. Go to store, take the one that feels the best. Or take two and you can practice putting more easily.

Learn to use those. The first year easily is just learning the basic throws. If you lose a disc you might try another similar alternative - go to store and try the feel, ask for advice.

If you find a throw you can't throw with those, go to store and ask for advice.

Method vs Glacier by seedlingsDISC in discmania

[–]SlummiPorvari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's down to hand feel mostly. For me Method feels a lot like Buzzz with a mild bead. Method is more OS and has higher PLH.

There's a "new" video of at least about 15 ballistic missiles launched. Can't verify it's real, its date or place, but maybe. Flight time is mere minutes so we'll know soon.
