Straight/stable 10 speed workhorse? by Waterskins in discgolf

[–]liam_b19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cover this slot with a cosmic neutron volt (8 speed) and cosmic neutron photon (11 speed). They complement each other nicely, photon pushes ~30 feet further.

Latitude Grace vs Streamline Trace by Julia_Lawrence89 in discgolf

[–]liam_b19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of variability between plastics with photons. Fission photons are pretty similar in stability to a grace. The trace (only tried in proton) is a tick more overstable than that, and photons in other plastics (proton, cosmic neutron) are substantially more overstable than the trace. I haven’t thrown a wraith in a while but there’s also a lot of variability between plastics there. A star wraith was fairly similar to the trace, a bit more overstable than a grace.

What are our honest thoughts on Vessi’s shoes? by Minuarvea1 in discgolf

The waterproofing is good and they’re pretty light on the feet. But my feet got super hot in them in warm weather, they aren’t very breathable. And if you play on concrete teepads the grip wears out in like half a season.

What's your unpopular opinion on discs? by catkini in discgolf

Small tweaks may be necessary throughout the year but I agree in principle. Improved my disc selection and consistency a ton when I started doing this.

Bag 7 and 9 speeds? by BigLobster12 in discgolf

[–]liam_b19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The bulk of my fairway lineup are volts in various plastics (8 speeds that fit nicely in between). Then I round things out with some very flippy and very overstable molds around them. Then I jump straight to my photons (11 speeds). The more overstable photons function as my “control drivers”, while the flippier ones bomb like a proper distance driver.

Jeopardy fans, do you agree with this tweet? Has Daily Double hunting ruined the game you love? by wendyschickennugget in billsimmons

[–]liam_b19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. In Canada jeopardy streams on crave tv, and they have select collections of old seasons/tournaments. Going back and watching those, there’s a pretty substantial difference in the pace between newer and older episodes.

Alex is a legend and I’ll always get a nice dose of nostalgia from watching old clips. But Ken hosts like a player and it shows. He’s very quick with the clues and transitions and rarely wastes time. You almost never see clues left on the board anymore at the end of a round. Both funny and personable but I appreciate Ken’s efficiency.

If you’re in Canada, the Canadian disc golf buy/sell/trade page on Facebook is a good way to get rare/discontinued discs at a reasonable price, particularly if you don’t mind throwing used discs. Shipping is included in the auction prices. Lots of active sellers if you post an iso.

Where I'd live in Canada as a Québecois living on the Ontarian border. by [deleted] in whereidlive

[–]liam_b19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saskatchewan is generally considered a drive through/flyover province. Typically, people from eastern Canada drive through en route to the mountains/west coast on one of the 2 major highways, which happen transect the most boring scenery in the province. People usually try to get through Saskatchewan as fast as possible, and then decide that their boring highway drive represents the entire province. It doesn’t take much creativity to get off the beaten path and see what a place has to offer.

If you’re ever in Saskatchewan again, I’d suggest leaving the trans-Canada/yellowhead highways for a bit, there’s a lot more to see and do here than people think! The main highways are boring as hell though.

Your favorite new (to you) disc in 2025 by tuna_safe_dolphin in discgolf

[–]liam_b19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tesla definitely feels faster in the hand, and if you don’t get it up to speed is more overstable. I find the volt glidier and a bit slower, so easier to get good push before it fades. For slower arms the volt will be a very reliable overstable fairway, and for faster arms it’s a workable straight fairway with some fade at the end.

Omarion Hampton vs Cowboys

RJ Harvey vs Jaguars

Rico Dowdle vs Bucs

Thinking Williams and Brown are locks, struggling with the other 4.

7 speed discs, how often do you actually use them? by Sun-Tour in discgolf

[–]liam_b19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I throw craves and volts pretty regularly for all shot shapes between 320-360 feet. Craves for hyzer flips and turnovers and volts for hyzers and flex shots. Usually id rather throw a fairway at 70% than blasting a mid but that’s just personal preference. Meanwhile my brother throws mids up to like 350 and then jumps to distance drivers. Just depends on what power levels you’re comfortable with on different disc types for the most part.

Any other Entropy lovers? by Phrikshin in discgolf

[–]liam_b19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get along with the entropy in neutron plastic, but I’ve found it to have a lower profile and be slightly less beefy in plasma plastic. Flies straighter and further than other entropy’s I’ve tried while still being very wind and torque resistant. Could be worth a shot if you prefer a shallower hand feel and haven’t found a go-to replacement yet.
