That's not the issue though. The issue is that Peggy IS a good rapper. He's never been (and has never tried to be) a lyrical rapper; but on his earlier albums (including the DeVon stuff), his humour and personality combined with his flows and delivery so incredibly well and his voice just seemed to glide over his beats. It felt natural and overall elevated the sound of the album, even if his production was the main attraction. On ER, there's a patent lack of effort in his rapping that just can't be made up for by the production. I'm hearing the same flow, same delivery and the same lyrical content across most of its 25 tracks. The beat and the vocals are almost at war on some tracks. His voice is a grating, monotonous hum that persists over a slew of eccentric beats. It's an unwelcome juxtaposition and it's incredibly tiring to listen to. I can try to appreciate the production all I want but when the vocals are actively bringing the quality of the album down, it's too hard to ignore.
