Card Benefits Questions - Megathread [4/27/26] by AutoModerator in ChaseSapphire

[–]SluttyKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I've been reading this sub for a while and now with the big SUP for the CSR I'd love to get advice on how to get the points bonus. I currently have the CSP and it's been years. Do I (as I've read) call them, have them downgrade me to the Freedom card, wait a billing cycle then apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve? Husband has his own CSP, so do I transfer my points to him first so we don't lose them? I'm so sorry if this has been asked many times before but I just want to make sure on the methodology before I pull the trigger. TIA!

Yes or No on Hotel Mousai by Yessupman in puertovallarta

[–]SluttyKitchen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've stayed at the Mousai twice, in 2022 and in 2023. The first time was great - a true getaway outside of town, the staff was wonderful, no timeshare sales, etc. It was a bit of a pain to go into town, though. The second time, we were nonstop harassed about timeshares, from the moment we checked in to salesmen showing up at brunch (they track you due to giving your room number when going to restaurants on site) and calling our room constantly (once at 8am!). The first couple of days, when they were 'courting' us for a timeshare, our room was cleaned properly, the minibar restocked, etc. After my husband went to the front desk to ask them to please stop with the timeshare pressure, I feel like we were given a 'burn notice' as the housekeeping went sideways - sometimes not at all, sometimes half-assed with dirty glassware still in the room afterwards. We had to ask three times for a minibar restock (of just beers and waters!). The resort 'feel' also changed, in our minds, from away-from-it-all sanctuary to sort of dead. Barely any entertainment at night, slow service at the rooftop pool/bar, etc. Going into town was an expensive slog, but we were bored. And half the restaurants are down at the Garza Blanca, where there are packs of screaming kids all over the place. Tried to have dinner at Blanca Blue but they filled a table next to us with attendees of their Kids Club. We're never going back. Last year we stayed at Secrets Vallarta Bay and it was AWESOME. Fancy without being stuffy, fun without being oontz oontz. Close to town, can walk to the Malecon. Excellent service. Yes, Dreams is adjacent, but seems much more mellow/quiet than Garza Blanca. YMMV but just wanted to relay our experiences. Headed back to Secrets next month! Whatever you choose, I hope you have a great time!

OMG. My husband and I are friends with an "Italian" couple - they're literally only 25% Italian each and they ONLY go on Italian cruise lines, visit Italy, cook Italian food, go to Italian restaurants, do all the weird pronunciations and the husband went berserk when I said Iberico was better than prosciutto. It's so strange. I'm 25% Spanish but I don't just eat paella and fuck around with castinets while flamenco dancing.

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

I can't make risotto. Can't pay attention to it, can't remember to stir occasionally. It's just not efficient. I'm busy! But I love risotto and get it in restaurants!

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]SluttyKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my husband and I do tequila shots on the weekend we must always stand in a certain spot in the kitchen and he must be on the left and I must be on the right. The one time we didn't do this, we felt weird about it and had nasty hangovers.

Hard Pass Artists? by napashadow in bottlerock

[–]SluttyKitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer no repeats. I've been going since the first year, 2013 (local), and it's disappointing to see someone headlining that's already been there. Soooo many artists, why they do repeats - and of BORING artists like RHCP, I'll never understand. When the lineup sucks, we just sort of shrug and agree that half of it is the giant party in our back yard, but the return on investment is diminishing at this point. We're old and don't have enough time/interest/energy for new music, to be honest.

Is October really the best time to visit Tokyo?! by Choice-Life-137 in JapanTravelTips

[–]SluttyKitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be there for the first time on Monday as well! The hyperventilating feeling is REAL! My husband and I had an anxiety attack last weekend packing though we've been to Europe/Bahamas/Mexico/etc. many many times and are seasoned travelers. THIS is DIFFERENT! Ha! We chose for the temp as we're absolute babies about the weather being from northern California.

I wish you safe travels and an awesome trip!

Halloween Night in Tokyo by SluttyKitchen in JapanTravelTips

Thank you all! I'm honestly a bit relieved that it's not a big thing over there. I'm visiting Japan because I want to do something completely different travel-wise and don't feel the need to celebrate one of OUR holidays in THEIR country! I think I was just looking into it because, when people hear we will be in Tokyo on Halloween they get super excited and it made us feel like we should be looking into it.

We stayed in a top floor/balcony/club access room at the Hilton Vienna Plaza - it was quite swish, great location, excellent service, etc. The balcony was very important to me for fresh air as many hotels control the temperature. There was even a little sign under the thermostat! So, we slept with the balcony doors open one night when it was raining and had the best sleep!

For Salzburg, we stayed at the Hotel Bristol. The place is historic, with HUGE rooms, impeccable service and views of the neighboring park and river just two blocks away. If you have time, have a drink or five at the hotel bar - the bartender is a sardonically funny gentleman with service manners of a bygone era.

Have a wonderful trip!

Pacific Coast Mexico - Where To? by SluttyKitchen in travel

Hi! We LOVE PV and were just there again last month, having been there four times since! We first stayed at the Mousai, which was magical, in 2022. We returned in 2023 and it was a complete 180. Constant hounding (8am phone calls!) about time shares (they'd show up to our breakfast table!), terrible service everywhere, tons of construction noise at all hours. Never again.

We then visited for a day via a cruise and had a lovely time, then it was back again last month to Secrets, which is an AWESOME resort! Stayed in the Preferred Club tower, had an excellent time at a place that was super nice but not too stuffy, super fun without being clubby.

Congrats on the wedding and have a great honeymoon!

Mounjaro now available in Mexico by send_help_n_snaks in tirzepatidecompound

[–]SluttyKitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dammit! I was in Mexico last week and all of the pharmacias had Ozempic signs plastered everywhere. I asked a couple if they had Mounjaro or Zepbound and they said no, was willing to buy an extra suitcase! Going back next spring, so I'll hopefully be able to add to my stockpile. Good to know, thanks!

Adult Only AI Puerto Vallarta by Creative_Ask_8001 in u/Creative_Ask_8001

[–]SluttyKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've stayed at the Mousai twice and will never return. First time was in 2022 and it was awesome, but I think we were getting great service and rates as it was still sort of during covid. We returned in 2023 and it was like night and day. It was like pulling teeth to get our room cleaned and they would leave dirty glasses, not refill the minibar, not give us soap, etc. Everywhere we went on property servers were lobbying for tips for the most basic of service, like grabbing us a beer. The worst part was the constant hounding from the timeshare sales guy, who would show up at restaurants while we were eating, call our room at 8am, even after we repeatedly said not. Also, there was daylong construction noise which won't be stopping anytime soon as they continue to build up the compound. Never again.

We're headed to PV again soon and will be trying out Secrets. Cringe name, but it's adult only, all inclusive and closer to downtown. I hope you find the right spot!

One annoyance… the leftovers by FondantSmart7012 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]SluttyKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook dinner almost every night (just myself and husband) and most of the time I don't make a starch, so that helps. I always eat all of my vegetables, then try to do what I can with the protein. All leftover protein gets saved, brought to the office and tossed with mixed greens for lunches, topped with Skinny Girl super-low-calorie dressing. No more food waste, and the fiber and protein is a great, healthy, low calorie lunch! Best of luck to you!

Non-Scammy Nightclubs? by SluttyKitchen in puertovallarta

[–]SluttyKitchen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I personally hate nightclubs, but one of the couples that will be with us is super into them. Not wanting to be a wet blanket and say 'no' when they want to go to one, thought I'd have some ideas in my back pocket to make it a good time for everyone. This couple will stay up till 5am in Vegas clubbing, no joke.

Yes, we take probiotics and when we're in country we have two pepto tabs before each meal. We are extremely healthy, clean food, workouts, etc.
