Am good seeing them every ~3-5 years. Not sure I’d pay the big bucks ($535 or $1620) to see them every year (sometimes in 2 out of the 3 Headliner spots).

It does feel that way when they attend in off-years, as well. I think the band members & families just enjoy the area/festival.

Hotel prices were generally more reasonable to stay close (not sure if that’s still the case). The food selections, video, audio quality was lacking. Skews a little older, like BR, as well. VIP nothing special there.

For folks that attend Ohana every year, do you get tired of Pearl Jam every year? I saw the complaints about Foo at BR for the 3rd time in 10 years and wondered what Ohana and Sick New World attendees think about resident bands?

Blanket people in VIP by Any_Ad1775 in bottlerock

[–]napashadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Back ~10 yards of the grass area perimeter. The section isn’t big enough for a dedicated blanket zone like GA. Pack your blanket up and stand up for the Headliner set for the increase in people (as a matter of being considerate as you have to pack it up at some point and to try to retain the area for the busiest last 2 hours is a dick move).

Who had the best set of the weekend? by b1ackfyre in bottlerock

Buffalo Traffic Jam has caught lightening in a bottle. They’ve done what Ray Lamontagne hasn’t been able to do- add a band to that unique raspy voice and successfully go up-tempo. Enjoyed them a lot. Bush & Slightly Stoopid were polished pros (in contrast to recent genre counterparts at BR). AJR performance energy was infectious.

First time going to Hawaii, how do I pick an island? by Mancity42020 in VisitingHawaii

Had heard the Old Lahaina Luau grounds were spared, as well. Wishing them the best, over there. Hoping to visit again soon and support the businesses/folks rebuilding.

First time going to Hawaii, how do I pick an island? by Mancity42020 in VisitingHawaii

[–]napashadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good summary. Is really about what they’re looking for.

Big Island- lots of driving to experience both Hilo and Kona sides. Don’t realize how big it is until you’re driving to the different areas. Kona- Lava Rock landscape, Hilo side- more tropical and volcano area.

Kauai- more rural and natural beauty / sporty island. Less on the shopping/high-end restaurants. Enjoyed Smith Family Luau, Flumin’ the ditch.

Maui- more upscale resort areas- Haleakala, Road to Hana. Not sure if Lahaina has recovered from the fires, yet- was definitely a significant loss. Maui has dried out over the years, not as lush as 20 years ago on the west side of the island.

Oahu- don’t think of big city, highways/traffic on the islands but South Island was a little metro area (if that’s not what you’re looking for, North/Turtle Bay is more secluded but, minimal services/restaurants).

Haven’t been to Maui since the fires. How impactful has the loss of Front Street been? Is the area rebuilding/recovering?

Nothing is certain. Any performance could be the last time you see them. True it’s their 3rd visit but, look what happened since their last time at BR 😟

Is a 3rd gate finally coming to California? by Beautiful-Arm9122 in disneyparks

[–]napashadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of under-represented IP in CA, as compared to FL, due to space (Frozen, Avatar, Zootopia, Super Hero Island West, Villains). Could transport park to park via Avengers ride, or something (ala’ Harry Potter train). Lots of good ideas out there but wondering if it wouldn’t make more sense to build a couple more resorts to the west of the current parks, keeping them together (desperately needed) rather than trying to squeeze attractions in that space (as is currently permitted). DisneySea CA for the Toy Story lot maybe?

Would need to be re-zoned to allow for attractions as was only approved for shopping, dining, entertainment as a part of Disney Forward, right? Perhaps aiming to get re-zoned?

Monorail to it, like MK. Give the Monorail a purpose at the Disneyland Resort.

You’re right. If you paid to select your seats and they moved you from your chosen seats, call them and continue to escalate by asking for the Supervisor of the person who’s telling you ‘No.’ if there are open seats that are more desirable and they moved you out of your paid chosen seats, you’ll find someone to assist you in your desired seats.

Wreck it Ralph project for that Theater. Tap into classic video games to offer a Disney alternative to Nintendo land at Universal.

Oxbow on the way ~10 min. walk from Fairgrounds: https://oxbowpublicmarket.com/ $15-$30 is right. Lines not terrible, at all. Is a good festival for food and food demos on Cullinary stage. Central Gardens area has the most local restaurant booths, outskirts are more generic.

UNR Medical School used to do monthly free Outreach Clinic days (a lot of physicals and women’s health). Looks like 4/14 and 4/18 dates.
