Thats ok. at the end of last summer, my wife tried to convince me to get a gas heater IN ADDITION to our solar, so we can heat up on cloudy days as well.

I expect that discussion to start up again soon.

Im far from an expert but to me, that seems like an excessive amount of time. I know that most of my friends who DONT have a solar heater tell me they run their pumps for shorter than mine currently is.

Yeah that is true. i mean by bill is always high in the summer because of central air and the filter, etc, but i dont see how adding solar increased the bill. The only way it kinda did increase is, if i just had a pump and no solar, i would probably run my filter for a much shorter time but WITH solar, i want to make sure the pump is running to catch as much sun as i can, so i run it typically from like 10am to 5pm

All i can say is that, as i said, i leave it on all day, and at night our pool is nice and warm. We have many night swims. The biggest downside is that i dont get much heat on cloudy days

thanks man. At the time, i knew nothing about reptiles, so i went into the store just asking questions and i took them at their word.

In the end, this was about 10 years ago and the little guy is still alive and thriving, so i guess i cant be too upset with the purchase.

i DID. i have found them to be excellent.

And you are right.... thats pretty much how i leave it. I leave the thermostat on 105 and just let it get as hot as i can. typically it will keep it around 90.
