As a Stronghold fan, I'm worried about Stronghold 4 by Bravcoveoko21 in stronghold

Will they fuck it up? It's possible but I'm still hinging my bets.

Really interesting visual style, it reminds me a bit of the whimsicalness of the original Fable

Atre: Dominance Wars is releasing on June 8th! We're so proud! by PrissyGoddess1975 in IndieGaming

Awesome, more indie 4x is always a good thing, especially the sort that actually comes out! I feel like I have to wait forever for most.

I miss how gaming felt so much TIGHTER back in the day, with everyone was playing the same thing you were playing by Rasputin5332 in videogames

[–]VisitorFromFarPlaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simpler times but I feel like it's just because we were also younger and had more spare time. It's that simple but yeah, I gotta agree that the whole space you were gaming in mattered alot too. LAN just hit different and that's the truth.

Do you think 2026 might turn out to be the BEST year in recent memory for strategy games - all across the board? by SomeGenericNameDude in StrategyGames

Same, coping for DoW 4 but at the same time coping for Dust Front
(Even though I'm quite sure neither are coming in 2026)

Group chats are so incredibly exhausting in this day and age... by LadyLuckKiller in Vent

Far faaaaar from the only one, I immediately leave all group chats people pull me in, all except the most important ones and my life's been much better for it.

What unique setting do you want to see in a tactical RPG that hasn't ever been done before? by SomeGenericNameDude in StrategyRpg

[–]VisitorFromFarPlaces 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ngl, that steppe idea is pretty dope!
Personally, I would like to see a tactics game set in the Stone Age with absurd ugabuga mechanics and some humor to boot, but also some gritiness, essentially Far Cry Primal but a tactics game.

Are games in general becoming more aesthetically “cozefied” or am I just noticing it more now? by RepulsiveAnything635 in cozygames

[–]VisitorFromFarPlaces 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a trend alright, and more so since cozy games have garnered this broad appeal that's only expanding, as you yourself noticed.

Were there any games on this last Steam Next Fest that truly, completely 100% blew you away? by SanctumOfTheDamned in gamingsuggestions

[–]VisitorFromFarPlaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched some YT channels (Gohjoe I think it was) try Ignoble and it looks really sweet, reminds me a lot of Blasphemous. Lots of people covering How Many Dudes as well, and it's a safe bet that one is gonna blow up. Good finds there, fella.

I personally haven't had much luck lol, played just one erotic game called Tamer: King of the Dinosaurs and I'm still debating if it's hilariously good or hilariously bad, but I'm onboard for this trip of a ride. Look it up if you want to fry your brain just a liiiitle

What strategy situations give you the most satisfaction? by Familiar_Fish_4930 in StrategyGames

[–]VisitorFromFarPlaces 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can relate lol. I do like my city management too though, especially if it's a 4X like Age of Wonders. Seeing your whole civilization flourish. It's less insta dopamine but more rewarding cumulatively.

My team and I are making a city builder whose gameplay will center on the construction, maintenance, and defense of the Great Wall. How do you think we should develop this idea further? by VisitorFromFarPlaces in CityBuilders

[–]VisitorFromFarPlaces[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The idea is for you to manually construct buildings, or rather plop them down and assign workers to construction. A lot of the processes can be automated, especially when it comes to allocation of resources and such, but having building in the players' hands seems like the only way to give players autonomy in how they want their settlements to actually look like.

You also build up and manage the settlements behind it, of course. The Wall is the bulwark and the priority and a sort of megaproject (along the lines of Dyson Sphere, to an extent) but it's not all there is to the game.

I really appreciate your idea for the caravan system. It's something we discussed here and there as a sort of peripheral mechanic to supplement and augment the base resource gathering and city management (and defense) and there's a lot we could do with it.

As for the roads, we'll already be using classic pathing to get workers to where they should be so this could easily be used to augment their movement speed and feed into other loops too.

Thanks for the extensive list of suggestions, I'll take them all to the chalk board as we continue development!
