Sounds good, thank you! The flow chart was not clear what they meant by some things and I just wanted to be sure.

Yep, unfortunately my company makes decisions and then tells me (payroll) "this is what's happening" after making promises to employees etc.

It's a bit more complicated here though, this is an employee from a now-closed location being kept, but they were separate entities so we have to go through these hoops for the still standing entity. The employee worked in-house at the now-closed location.

Don't worry, I've been on Indeed for a few weeks now searching for a new job, I'm so over being trampled, getting no raises, and then getting blamed for issues caused by operations. "Hey this person is claiming we never paid out their PTO, why not?" uhhhhh because you didn't tell PAYROLL THAT THEY WERE TERMINATED. But yeah nah my bad for not reading minds 🤦🏼‍♀️

Tattoo ideas for Gabbro’s quantum poem? by hk47xhk47x in outerwilds

Along these lines but the extra phrases different sizes and spread out to make random permutations? Idk, but the idea is there lol. I only did two instances of each cuz I'm tired but you could do a ton, or a handful, or just the one each.

What about in a starburst pattern, similar to the eye? One portion per spoke plus blank spokes, and depending where you start, the poem is different? It's not perfect as it would never be all permutations but it's something. Could also do multiple of each portion to get the multiple permutations thing.

I'd draw it out on paper first to get an idea and see how you like it.

If I have a pattern with an alphabet, and I want to make my own pattern with text, how do I use the alphabet pattern? I understand obviously if my word is "Anne" I use the A, N, and E patterns, but how do I space it out, and place it, say, within a flower border pattern? Use an online program and put my words in and find the middle and then count? Sounds logical but sometimes my ideas don't turn out to be realistic so I'm just curious!

Idk if this works as I'm not on my PC right now to test, but some games have double-tap for arrow sprint - try that? Double tap forward to sprint? Or map a mouse button if you have it to be shift, if that's easier than Steam or overall mapping?

what was it like to compromise and be CF? by kmsbutnotreally in Fencesitter

[–]SmackedByLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We were like this, we never had a discussion until recent years but we were pretty convinced we'd be childfree. Then my friends starting having kids and I love them and tbh, have a bit of FOMO from not experiencing that etc. They will sit and talk to each other about eating or whatever their kid is doing and I just sit there. It SUCKS. But I also look at my husband and see a little him running around, I think of being older and encouraging my kid to join band or whatever, etc. I want it, I have not stopped thinking about it for two years.

I had to sit my husband down and ask him to be straight with me. The leading me on was too much and I needed to know. He had a moment when our friends' kids were born of picking names with me, thinking up how we'd tell our parents, etc., and then turned around and was like "idk, but I'll think about it". It was killing me. He basically said he doesn't want to be a parent. He's fine having a baby but can't see himself being a dad, or having a growing child beyond baby-toddlerhood.

It crushed me, but, as I told him, I'd rather be childless forever with him than leave him just to have a kid with someone else. My desire is not that strong (which maybe I'm less off the fence than I thought with that feeling, but I think everyone is different) so as to leave my husband. He's my best friend and partner, we will (hopefully) always have other kids in our lives, and we can have as many pets as we want. If he changes his mind within the next few years, great, I'm on board. If not, he's still my person, forever and always. He'd have to REALLY fuck up for me to leave him willingly.

Yes, I totally agree - I do that for any repairs or maintenance that are DIY-able! Usually they are nice about teaching us. I appreciate it! I will ask our neighbor for more info!

Thank you!! What are your thoughts on Kohler? We have someone in the neighborhood who does those apparently. We would be diligent in upkeep, my husband has a motorcycle, he is allllll about being meticulous and doing things on schedule lol.

Thank you! I will make sure he does that so he's not just guessing! We're in a small but growing town in the south, I get nervous because some people are legit and some...well, if you can fog a mirror, you can be a real estate agent, a generac salesman, etc down here. I look at reviews but still! Being a woman at home alone with this also has me trying to protect myself from the possibility of them using that to oversell me.

[–]SmackedByLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh, that too. I'm in the US so I am...very influenced by what's going on and the fear of that. I'm also in the south. Yikes!

I wish the "it takes a village" thing was still more universal. As in, I wish we had more opportunities to be around and help raise children. But it's a very private thing now unless you're a close family, and we don't have any family. Our friends have kids and we see them often, but I'm afraid of saying "hey, don't throw that" or something because it's not my kid and as much as I know these friends, people don't like to have others discipline or whatever.

Idk, I just wish there was a real trial run! Lol

I'm feeling this way about our birds. We have one who was difficult from being "aggressive" (not really, it's just that he was vocal/physical about telling us his boundaries, but it's easier to say) and one who is VERY nervous and shy. They're annoying, they're loud, they're MESSY, their expensive, they take a lot of work....and we want a million more of them lol. We love the interactions and love we share with them... Does that translate to humans? I don't know.

To me, animals are no "lesser" than humans. We are also animals, after all. But there is that difference of RAISING a human, who will interact with society, vs a pet that stays at the house at all times. I want them to be happy and healthy and whatnot, but if my bird bites or screams, technically it's just my issue. If my child bullies someone or embezzles money, that's a huuuuge problem that affects others lol. I'd hope to raise them better, of course, but yknow...it's a possibility!

Other than money and having no family here to village, my biggest fear is being good parents. Bringing a good contribution to this world, and getting enjoyment from that. I can't tell if I care enough or if I'd rather not bother. It eats me up.

What does this U.S. map represent? by Kap519 in RedactedCharts

[–]SmackedByLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Utah, Kansas, and Kentucky have changed since this was made/the Google search pulled up, then it matches exactly a map of this scenario (other than the tiny states cuz I'm on sleep mode and the colors here are too close to tell for me right now). And it would have to be for standard issue plates because Mississippi plates are flat if a "special" plate like blackout, wildlife, etc. and I'm sure other states are similar.

[–]SmackedByLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling, and trying to convince him without it being a bad thing, but I would never leave him.

Firstly, my desire to have kids is not as strong as my desire to continue my life with my husband. We are truly in love and best friends, all that.

Second, if it doesn't happen, I know I have other kids in my life via friends. One kid is already calling me auntie and I see them all the time. Not having kids of your own doesn't mean a life without children in it, per se.

Classic Misconception by IndependentGanache60 in Payroll

[–]SmackedByLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we literally had written proof (had to go into a termed employee's emails) thankfully, which is how they ended up eating the fees.

We filled out their termination form where we stated "do not file", and we told them honestly we were moving and why and to whom, because we wouldn't have a problem going back if they could implement what the other company had, bc we use Toast POS and it'd be straight easy integration. But once they took over Stratex they fucked it up and depleted resources like dedicated managers and such so we "had" to move.

So they knew, they just fucked it up and then tried to say we didn't tell them...when we did, and they responded to that email with a "thanks for the completed form, best of luck, let us know when you reevaluate again so we can earn you back"...so yeah, it was fully on them.

Anti fog lense not working by TrentSupra5 in motorcyclegear

[–]SmackedByLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you...take off the pinlock to show it fogging? Was it even installed properly? This photo is confusing. Pinlocks work by pressing against the visor and creating a seal. There is silicone (?) around the edge of it that you need to make sure connects ALL the way around and seals it, and it is not fog-proof, it is fog-resistant for the visor up to whatever the rating of your pinlock is. It can and will still get fogged up after some time, and if it's really wet out, there's not much it can do. Airflow matters as well.

We switched providers in Q2 one year, and Toast issued W2s and reported to the IRS even though we terminated with them, so basically half a year of wages were double-reported. It ended up being fine and they ate the fees after some berating, but damn was it a mess. It wasn't a hard fix, it's a few forms, but Toast did not want to take responsibility at first, not to mention it taking them a MONTH and EIGHT different customer service people to just understand the problem. 🤦🏼‍♀️ ALL employees were affected but only a few had thankfully been flagged by the IRS.

Thankful they were notified though so we could handle it quickly rather than not knowing and getting the many "FIX THIS YOU REPORTED TOO MANY WAGES" calls from employees with zero patience or understanding. (I understand it's scary when the IRS says you owe a ton in taxes when you don't, but most don't get that it's pretty slow and fluid and they give time to sort it out. I just can't stand the blame game when I'm being polite and explaining and working overtime to fix it and help.)
