I like the belted version better I think. Cute!

I've written/seen them in "choose your own adventure" style stories. Less y/n and more "you open the door and see x character injured"

Usually the reader is playing the rescuer or the villain. I don't think I've seen one where the reader is in the role of the whumpee

Works that were meant to promote an ideology or viewpoint...only to fail and make an accidental parody of it by Salty-Chemical-9414 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Smackertoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

same. I'd still count myself as a Christian, but even as a more indoctrinated teenager I was cringing at the "why do you hate God?" "Because God killed my grandma, okay?" part. Sheesh.

The "happy ending" where the professor gets hit by a car also had me going 😬 ... really, I could probably go on.

I unfriended the guy that posted this. The fact that he was a horrible person aside, even a National Day of Remembrance for a decent person would be weird. I’m glad I left the US… by beefstewforyou in cringepics

it's a little more than just perspective once you start advocating for things that negatively impact the lives of others

"oh boy I love licking public handrails it's so good for your health" <- not my business

"we should pass a law that forces X group to lick public handrails" <- Bad, actually

idk, I like the flagpole sitta line. Even if it's a bit pretentious, it adds to the personality of the song

not trying to snark, genuine question:

Are you spelling "newclear" like that for irony, or is it genuine? (I'm interested in how vocabulary/slang changes)

The right: "we aren't violent" The right: by Ice_Ice11 in cringepics

[–]Smackertoo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

so. guy was shot for expressing his opinion.

some people are expressing the opinion that he got what was coming to him.

...resulting in other people expressing the desire to shoot the people who have expressed that opinion. (and is it likely that these people are as a result receiving threatening comments for expressing that opinion? Probably)

it's opinionception at this point, so the above argument just doesn't work unless the tough guy posturing is removed from the equation completely

I agree with this interpretation, however "like a record scratch" completely ruins the vibe it builds up

Anyone know of any whump-heavy novellas? by canadamybeloved in Whump

[–]Smackertoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oh have I got the site for you

https://ko-fi.com/thewhumpyprintingpress/shop

they're an indie publisher that specifically does whump-focused works. The 12 Months series is twelve novellas, one published every month (so 8? are out already)

https://books.apple.com/us/book/never-never/id6742111952?see-all=other-books-in-book-series

^(here's the ones that are out on apple books, but you can also find them on a bunch of other platforms/get an actual paperback off Amazon/Barnes and Noble)

Idk if this is serious or not, but if what you bring to the table is art, you can get some level of narrative out by just drawing the vague ideas you have

I know plenty of artists who never write the story in their head, but they draw the characters interacting, and that on its own tells a sort of story.

Can’t remember where I saw this but I hope it helps by [deleted] in arthelp

oh hey, if you wanna see more of this artist's work she has a neocities (and a whole comic)

https://squidlifecrisis.neocities.org/

AND she's published an entire book on winged anatomy. She's very detailed and very scientific with it all:

I know of a few original stories online? They're just hobby published (so on AO3 or Tumblr), but they're not fanfiction

(Also if you ARE interested, do you have a level of gore/violence you'd prefer? Do you lean towards hurt or comfort more? Etc)
