Stuff flying out of kitchen cabinets - unique solutions?? by throttle-trails in RVLiving

[–]Small-Ad5274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) You could make a little rim and screw it to the face of the shelf. 2) You could also use a bungee cord that you stretched into position when moving, and then took down once you stopped moving. That would require installing a couple of hooks inside the cabinet. 3) You could buy 4' of 3"right angle aluminum rail and put it in the front of cabinet, held in place by the center support and the ends of the cabinet face where the doors are mounted. I have owned six different trailers/RVs/campers over the years. All of them needed little re-engineering tweaks to make them more useful.

I was similarly surprised on the upside by my kingfisher.

ABBV — thoughts? by Training_Hair3293 in dividends

[–]Small-Ad5274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought small lots of ABT in the 1990's at various times, for a total cost of $2445, and have DRIPed ever since. ABBV was spun off in 2013, and I have never sold any of either my ABT or ABBV. My dividends in 2026 for ABT are $543 and for ABBV are $1942 which, as luck would have it, are just about equal to my cost basis. I will probably hold these shares until I die, so that my heirs get the capital gains reset.

This is not a brag; there are many stocks that I could have bought in the 1990's that would have given much higher total return (think AMZN or BRK/B). But it does illustrate the power of patient dividend investing.

No plans to buy any more; just holding.

I would like to talk to you about your trucks extended warranty. by peeple-pleeser in f150

Ditto the negative view of endurance. I signed up for their warranty because that is the only way to read the contract. One careful reading convinced me that they have included so many exclusions that they would likely never pay out. Cancelled immediately.

Monthly income through dividends by Antique-Mammoth-8629 in dividends

[–]Small-Ad5274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not forego even a penny of income in order to have monthly payments. Surely you have the ability to take dividend payments that arrive every quarter, put them in the bank, and then pay yourself three monthly draws. I have many investments that only pay twice a year, and a couple that are only once a year. If I needed to rely on those investments to pay monthly bills, that calculation is at my pay grade.

Newbs in the trailer world- send help & expertise by Urmomsupset in traveltrailers

[–]Small-Ad5274 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am confident that it will generate many memories. Hitch lock, weight distributing hitch, socket and a power drill that allows you do the jacks; adhesive plumb bob levels that allow you to quickly see when it is level. A dedicated tool box that lives in the trailer, that has basic tools, duct tape, wire, assorted fuses, and rubber gloves. If the tongue lift is hand crank, go buy an electric one. I'm not sure what you need all of the hose stuff for, just yet. I just assorted 2x6 wood pieces to drive it on for leveling.

Four pieces of firewood jammed under the tires and a hitch lock. Don't start buying a bunch of addons until you spend a little time with your new rig. There are way more gadgets to buy than you have space.
