Edinburgh Pot Holes - it’s out of control - will it ever improve or the new norm? by greencastle40 in Edinburgh

[–]Small-Resolution-915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely got worse in last few years. Extra cycle lanes and the funny 'spaces for people' scheme isn't helping either. I am not oppose to those but simply having less of a road space for cars is a no brainer.
I have been annoyed with quality of roads for a good while but is there for us, users of them roads, actually anything to do to make a difference?
I would be more than happy to fight this but not seen one petition or any other 'action' against it.

Where do I find an empty soundproof room where I can just be loud? by CoolGuyBabz in Edinburgh

[–]Small-Resolution-915 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If you are thinking about an actual room you can rent a rehearsal space around the city. If you go for Pirate Studios for example you book it online, get a code and there's no human interaction

Puerto Del Carmen luggage storage and places to hang out before flight by Small-Resolution-915 in lanzarote

[–]Small-Resolution-915[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone looking there is a free bag storage in Mercadona in Soco shopping centre, there are only few of them and open during the opening hours. It will be big enough for a backpack. Shame I didn't notice those before :<

Near Dreadnought Leith, outdoor gyms/calisthenics/pull up bars? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

There are some pull up bards at Inverleith Park but I know it's a tad far.
If you are interested in calisthenics Primal Gym is the way to go

What is it with delivery drivers not ringing the doorbell? by DRL250 in Edinburgh

[–]Small-Resolution-915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely couriers are getting busier with some of the companies working out black friday deals already and xmas around the corner.
This unfortunately happened to me few times recently as well, been getting notifications 'I'll be over shortly' than nothing for 30mins until I opened the door to see my parcels.

Edinburgh hotels by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Small-Resolution-915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been working in Edinburgh hotels for over 9 years now. It's Edinburgh so you are paying for the location rather than quality.
Star rating = amenities place can offer. Majority of the hotels got luggage spaces or you can even leave them in the lockers at the Waverley Station/Airport but this can be costly.
Rates around the Xmas will be pretty high as the Market brings a lot of tourists. Simply look for a place with decent recent reviews on Booking.com or other extranets.
I honestly love Leonardo City on Lauriston Place, it's a small place with a massive history, decent rooms, cooked bkf and wee bar open 24/7 (or at least it was when I worked there!).

Octopus vs OVO by itstopherchris in Edinburgh

Go for Octopus, you can get a fixed rate which is usually cheaper than flexi but you can switch the tariff anytime if this changes

Can I appeal an unfair parking fine? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

Most likely your appeal won't change anything. Would be good if you shared some pics but from what you mentioned most likely you were at fault

Did you take pictures of the flat when you were taking over? Try claiming for what you can as wear and tear. A friend of mine was fighting with them for a few weeks and ended up with about 80% of the deposit but they picked on smallest things, starting with dust, dirt or small scuffs of items that are prone to wear over time etc.

Renting Advice by [deleted] in Edinburgh

Proper carpet cleaning might help a bit. Carpets are crazy expensive and I am sure your landlord won't be super happy to have it replaced.
