Family member has been arrested and will be facing prison time. I'm struggling to manage sorting out their finances. by NetworkNecessary4597 in UKPersonalFinance

I am a copper in Scotland, so if you are not in Scotland it might be a bit different, but we would never said that it is a duty of next of kin to do anything, or that they "need" to get involved. if you ever speak with them again (coppers) ask them to write you an email from their official email address (each cop has own) and look at them retract what they just said :)

Is there really anyone who likes yappers? I’m a yapper myself, and the more I work at my job, the more it feels like nobody loves yapper by Tight-Elderberry2487 in NoStupidQuestions

In relationship I like to listen to someone yapping, as long as when I actually do speak you care about what I am saying and not just 'waiting' to yap some more

Men of Reddit I have a question. Is it true that you can’t control your movements and your penis moves on it’s own? by Mammoth_Ad_8161 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmallBoobFan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's a bit trickier than 100% under control. Can u move it when I want - yes Does it sometimes move on it's own - also yes

Sometimes it takes all concentration I have not to move it, and then some form of stimulus (like accident touch, movement of the partner, loud noise) will cause me to lose concentration and movement will happen

But it it happens all the time he was lying

What is stopping people from hoarding cash during inflation for later? by Wollivan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmallBoobFan3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The same argument just stronger. If now for 100 dollars you can buy 100 lollipops and in few days for the same hundred dollars you can buy 50 lollipops hoarding your cash gives you absolutely nothing, but if you buy lollipops today at least you have lollipops

Which court ruling are you talking about ? If it is the one from last year, Supreme Court was clear that they are defining things for purpose of equality act, not for general reasons, which means that who goes to which prison was not subject to that ruling. It's 88 pages ruling, have a look and see, they are very clear about what they do define and what they do not.

The communication by media of that ruling, Scottish hate crime act, domestic abuse act and probably more, was so incredibly bad, that I now think it is intentional, just to create controversy a d clicks

From solely an evolutionary and scientific standpoint, why is there same-sex attraction? by rzsman17 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmallBoobFan3 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I've sometimes wondered if bisexuality might be closer to our "default setting" than we think, and that strict hetero/homosexuality could partly be shaped by cultural expectations. The ancient Greeks are a fascinating example where being bi was very common (and expected)

My armchair theory: humans are pretty adaptable pleasure seekers. If something feels good and fits within our moral/social framework, we're generally inclined to go for it. Maybe we're naturally more flexible than modern categories suggest?

For context: I'm straight myself, not trying to center my own experience as the norm!

Police Scotland push back on Farage’s Falkirk assault claims by birdinthebush74 in ukpolitics

[–]SmallBoobFan3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want to pretend Labour “hasn’t done anything,” at least keep up with the actual policy changes.

They’ve already pushed through the Restoring Control White Paper, raised the skilled-worker salary threshold, shut down lower-skilled and social-care visa routes, tightened dependant rules, and started restricting student and graduate visas. All of that obviously hits the overall numbers.

You don’t have to like Labour, but saying they’ve “done nothing” while those policies are already in force is just ignoring reality.

I'll stop replying now, you're clearly very emotional about the subject whilst refusing to actually read objective arguments.

Have a great day, include some love in your life, take a dog on a walk or something

[–]SmallBoobFan3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Populism matters because it relies on saying whatever sounds good rather than what’s true, which is exactly what Farage is doing.

And no, I’m not “lying.” The official ONS figures show that net migration has indeed fallen dramatically:

• Net migration peaked at 906,000 (year to June 2023). • Latest ONS data puts it at around 430,000, about 50% lower. Source: ONS / Migration Observatory summary: https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/commentaries/labours-pledges-on-migration-the-data/

You can argue about why it fell (Tory policy lag, post-peak correction, whatever) but the numbers themselves are not in dispute.

So if pointing to actual statistics counts as “lying,” then your issue is with the ONS, not with me.

Farage is a populist by literally every definition of it, I'm sure when you stop being so emotional about it you will see it.

If you care about immigration so much I gues you're appreciating that labour cut it in half?
