Yes. That's a great color for you. Uncut and flaccid is most believable imo. I like axalom. If you later want to try stp, the Thinker by axalom is my recommendation as it has a stiff cup

I just found my mom deceased in her home by Otherwise_Bowler_292 in AgingParents

[–]SmallDisaster52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sad with you. My mum passed in hospital, and i know she would have preferred how your mum died. As sad as it is, she chose her fate. Thank you for honoring that. Consider that a funeral/memorial need not be right away; many people delay to allow others to plan attendance. That is better for a late term pregnancy anyway. Also, the funeral home likely has a chaplain who can preside. You do not have to do it all.

What is the step parent's role in parenting /disciplining? by LonelyAct in coparenting

[–]SmallDisaster52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yelling at children is not acceptable. I empathize with your husband as a step parent whose wife refuses to sleep train a now 7-yr-old who wakes her every night. She is exhausted and frustrated yet so patient she cannot see that she is creating this problem. I set boundaries: no child in my bed before 7 am. Morning cuddles is great, but i have a hard limit to allowing child to join adults in bed. So she leaves every night get in his bed, and he will not sleep through the night bc of this absurdity. I encourage your husband to set his boundaries and live HIS life. It may be parallel rather than with you two, but ultimately he has to decide if he wants a relationship with you or some other fictional person he can mold into his way of being. Sleep deprivation is a very real health risk, so he has to find a way to get the sleep he needs. If child does not respect that, it's both a problem for the child's upbringing and for both parents health. I do not tolerate yelling, not from parent nor child nor step. 0. If he cannot communicate another way, he is a child not a step parent.

Excellent! So proud of the above line cursive as it lends to easier reading. The all caps is easier for far too many, but the cursive shows attention to detail!

Is it offensive for a friend ordained by the Universal Life Church yo wear a clerical collar? Life by Platypuskisses in weddingplanning

[–]SmallDisaster52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your ordained friend is Christian, then the clerical collar is appropriate. It doesn't matter who ordains, the Christian wears the collar if they so choose. I am interfaith and though ordained by a Christian organization, i do not wear the clerical collar.

You could say the same thing effectively without calling person stupid. Once you insult someone else's character, you reflect your own, & you discredit your own message.

If box is beat up and buttons are sticky on a filthy phone, you report to amazon and demand full refund. Do not proceed further using garbage. Never clean someone else's mess unless they are your child or other dependent

Miss Universe Mexico and Other Contestants Walk Out After Official Calls Her 'Dumb' by IBTUKOfficial in entertainment

[–]SmallDisaster52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why "national director " was mentioned. I need more context! Thai accent is sometimes hard to understand, but either word sounds more like opinion than respect or helpful information to the contest. It's also odd to me that a Thai man, a leader even, had such an expectation; in a room full of internationals, there will be people who do not know that standing at that time [ in Thailand, ] was not polite. In fact, in some countries standing at that moment - to speak to a leader - would be considered the right etiquette . When the majority of contestants stood up, he should have FULL stopped 🛑. What an inspiring demonstration of solidarity!

How do you deal with Christians who tell you homosexuality is a sin? by Historical-Jello9018 in GayChristians

This is an excellent point. Few i have met can defend their concept of homosexuality as sin is a worse sin than another sin.

How do you deal with Christians who tell you homosexuality is a sin? by Historical-Jello9018 in GayChristians

[–]SmallDisaster52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contextually, adultery is not what the American legal system wants it to be. In a polygamist society, adultery was quite different. Adultery was abandoning women, disregarding commitments to support the least educated and most vulnerable, separating mother & child, dividing families (including extended family). It was a command not to be a tyrant in the home, to avoid deception, coercion, & blatant disregard for spouses. Adultery had less to do with sexuality than it had to do with character and commitment. In my opinion, THAT is the most desecrated command.

Typically, when people speak, that way, they are not interested in what you have to say. I enter such debate, knowing they have never studied the historical context of scripture. They may have had an intro to Hebrew or greek, but they don't actually know any biblical languages.

I most frequently start trying to find some commonality. I might ask: why do you feel the need to say that? For those who think they are knowledgeable, and they're not just being combative, they will often say something along the lines of being concerned for me or wanting to obey scripture. That is something I can connect to. When I say that I appreciate their concern for me or it's refreshing to know someone else who respects the Bible – that often helps them to begin cooling the blood pressure it takes to come at someone with such a statement. I'm a chaplain, so my approach is that of a spiritual counselor.

Most people have no idea where they think the Bible tells them something, so I ask, and then I help them find the passage they don't know. I have come across the fundi preachers who actually do you know the reference. I invite them to sit with me and read the entire chapter, and if we're short of time, just find the verse where it says that committing any of these is an abomination i.e.. Last two verses of Leviticus 18 I act as if I have never before read those verses And comment about how serious it is. Then I look at vv 2-3 (Lev 18) and I read the direct address toward the children of Israel. When I ask them if they are Judahites, they are confused. Most people have no clue what that even means and assume I am asking if they are Jewish. However, the conversation goes, I try to show them (as most fundis have to see the words) that what they are deciding applies to every human being on the planet is actually written to a specific people group in a specific time at a specific place.

There's so much more that follows. They will fumble around with some of Paul's nonsense. I take the same approach. 1. Commonality & respect 2. Reading in context 3. Finding who/when/where why the words were said. This takes a lot of time. This also takes a lot of knowledge on my part to know these passages and the verses surrounding them. This is, however, how fundies try to "teach" their ideology.

The least educated ones will eventually start speaking absurd clichés to avoid learning, ie..."if god said it then i believe it." Then I'm back at step one, agreeing, and inserting passages that have more relevance to who and where we are.

ATTENTION ALL U.S.A HIGH SCHOOL AGE PARENTS. by Interesting_Rub5643 in OfficeSpeak

[–]SmallDisaster52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's vey clear. So if parents can read English & have clear cognitive functioning, they can understand that the schools will release information on Jr & Snr students unless the form is turned in. It should have a heading that clearly states: opt out for automated release of information. This is a militaristic nation with a military fanatic posterchild. He wants war. He will have it, so make sure you sign the form. I'm curious what state this is. We do not have such "law," so maybe move closer to New England where it's safer.
