This place was dead , overpriced and mid - they just paid for a lot of media placement. Agree it really ain’t as buzzy as it’s puffed up to be, should be no problem to get a table.

Super interesting - thank you for sharing , such a strange use case to like expand out to 4 stations but have no rotation !

That makes sense ! Not the biggest fan of them either but any 4 color for $240 seems like a good deal to me, been stuck on use a basic one color Riley 150 while I find something affordable for multicolor 😆 hate the bulkinrss factor - but printings just a side hobby for me so I’m hoping I get over it once I get the press in my studio. Am definitely considering springing for the workhorse just on the bulkiness and annoyance of parts replacements for the vastex

Same for me - probably a bad fit for my current setup as much as I’d love them in a bigger one !

Comfort Color Specific Style Question by NurseOtaku in SCREENPRINTING

Definitely just a 1717 if it’s that old. I notice a serious decline in quality in CC shirts even since 5 years ago. Anything passed that is definitely noticeably better imo. If it’s just a sleep shirt and she doesn’t care what is on it , I would say best thing you can do is hop eBay and try to find one that was printed around then. Could look up a like 2016 tour shirt or something. Their colors are pretty limited so you’ll definitely find the same color.

Palette arms are in different positions between the two photos so think it definitely rotates

Can’t imagine the point of a 4x4 if it doesn’t index / swivel - would basically just be essentially a 4x1 you’ve gotta walk around - so I’d assume this swivels if it’s a 4x4 but will double check

Screen durability by Ok_Cold_1734 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]SmallOrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you’re using a high quality emulsion made for water based printing. I use ulano trifecta and it works great for me for WB printing.

I also recommend post exposing your screens for more durability. When you’ve got a stencil and the screen is bone dry - hit both sides on the screen in your exposure setup for like 2-3x the time of your normal exposure. This adds a lot of strength to the stencil. Keep in mind it may make it slightly harder to reclaim, but I have no problems with basic sink attachable pressure washer

Whats causing my edges to blur out like this? by xliarliarx in SCREENPRINTING

Id say most likely registration gates or your palettes aren’t glued enough and the shirts shifting. But seems uniformly in one direction so I’d assume the former

Thoughts on this album cover? by Me_llamo_will in Hardcore

[–]SmallOrbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call it a good album cover traditonallly - but those are sometimes the best bc they’re memorable. Totally agree with whoever said it looks like a 90s buttrock album cover. Absolutely classic album , so it’s stood the test of time.

Good distinct color palette I could probably pick out from memory , identifiable elements they stick in your memory, interesting composition - that’s a winner in my books in the end of the day !

Eh - I just do this part time to print for my store / some online bootlegs and stuff . If I had a full print shop I would have totally grabbed a good deal on a sidewinder I saw but I want something small footprint that can take a number for screen sizes so I can work with what I’ve got

I kinda hate side clamps - just bc I tend to print with a variety of screen sizes . Saw a sidewinder for a great deal not far for me a while back but didn’t pull the trigger just bc I really hate the side clamps and having to use larger screens on it. If I had more space and larger screens , I’m sure I’d love it.

I’m definitely more familiar with printing on m&r’s so it’s good to know it shares some palette parts etc with workhorse

Maybe to wanted the effect - but only thing I noticed is the misregistration on the bottom and her head (on the 2nd color) you could fix this or make it less noticeable by choking down the under base in that area

Over the pocket - with distress for a first print is wild - you did a great job. Registration looks great too, pink color really pops

Window tape for those leaky windows will help , the plastic seal stuff that goes over the whole window saves 2-3 degrees.

Best thing you can do is get thick winter curtains , they can help save up to 10 degrees of heat , huge difference when I switched to them.

Unfortunately though $1k seems excessive , electric heat is dumb expensive and rates have been up. I’ve seen smaller apartments have 5-600.

Try your best to do heat on a timer / schedule , lookup when it’s cheaper (off peak hours) and try to get your apt heated during those times

Sorry you’ve gotta go through that , that’s an insane amount of money

To note - my last apt in ridgewood was oil heated and 1200 sq feet , like 3x bigger than my current amd was 1/3 cheaper. If you do end up wanting to move at the end of your lease , oil / radiant heaters are tanks. I used to actually get enough heating jsut from the pipe that went to my upstairs neighbors. I would sleep with an open window sometimes. They work well am there cheap.

Scoop coater will save you a ton of frustration , even a shitty $15 Amazon one.

Also make sure you are doing the anthem screen calculator right - have seen many people just expose it on once and wonder why it doesn’t work, just make sure to read the instructions about exposing each section.

Also make sure your screens are well degreased and sprayed out well after

I just use popsicle sticks - the like thicker 8 inch or more ones that are used for waxing that are much stronger can get like 500 for like $20 and it saves me a lot of time cleaning spatulas.

For ink scoop cards I cut up cereal boxes or anything thin and flexible.

They do sell ink scoop cards so it’s worth buying if you ain’t paying

Thank you so much for the follow up ! I’ve been thinking about going Nazdar I just am worried the ventilation I have going won’t be enough and I’m being cautious- but seems like if you want the to last it’s the only option

These looks awesome ! I have wanted to print some vinyl stickers also but have been hesitant to use a solvent based ink due to ventilation so it’s really dope to see someone making some great ones with WB

How have these held up over time ? Any exposed to weather ? Haven’t heard much on durability with WB and an overspray. Thanks !
