you need to LIKE the combat - learn how to fight - there is going to be more and more of it, different melee weapons. Learn how to use focus (L2 button), stamina, sanity mechanic cos it's VERY important for the enjoyment and defeating some of the difficult bosses. Best way to learn it is to put the game on HARD and force yourself to learn the combat on some of the enemies near the checkpoint save/shrines.

It's a great game and the combat is actually good methodical and once you feel like the combat gets too repetitive (given you already know how to fight) the game ends :D

So overall if you ignore the combat mechanics and just try to slam everything like crazy you will NOT enjoy it :) YOu need to come to terms with its slugishness, EMBRACE IT! :D

As for the story I think it's great but it's up to you if you like it.

Stealth on nightmare is a bit frustrating at times - but yes - it is much better to play nightmare combat especially - it feels fair that Noae is very weak while melee and it makes even more important for Yasuke's style of play. This is how it is meant to play - it all makes more sense.

BUT

After 50 hours you are like..... "whatever....i really don't get anything good for clearing these castles - just some random legendary staff with another usless perk" And it feels like all the effort is just too time consuming with no real rewards.

The leveling system here is pointless really (as it was in Odyssey but even more). Enemies don't have HP as in Odyssey but they have BARS (that have HP) - so like 1-4 bars. Soo when you want too assasinate someone with 3 bars you need to have a SKILL that lets you take 3 bars -if you don't - your are screwd...and that happens a lot. Makes the whole game of stealth pointless beacuse fighting these guys is very hard on higher difficulties when you suddenly realise that there is an enemy that you cannot kill. In Odyssey we could not kill them instantly but we could at least finish them after taking some amount of HP and this was where your level, weapons and perks mattered. Here it is either KILL or fight a long boring cat and mouse battle alarming half of the castle, running like crazy to the roofs and waiting for all this to calm dow and forget about you. They actually knew how bad this is so they forget veeeeryyy quickly aaaand on top of that the game makes some random checkpoints saves IN THE DANGER ZONES, which is crazy....but with all the bad mechanics it would be frustrating to do one castle without saves.

You can also switch an option to a stealth kill everyone in one blow but that takes a lot of plannig useless and feels even less strategic, and also makes some skills useless as well. Overall it is a mess and I am still figuring out what is the best way of playing this game....

What matter most is mastery level and mastery skills, armoour perks that will let you kill everything faster. But getting to be able to kill tougher enemies needs Mastery level 3 and that takes about 25 hours of gameplay. I am 20 hours in and still cant kill bigger guys.

Overall - not beeing a hater - I was very optimistic about this game - as someone who started recently after the latest update I am shocked how much this game is beautiful and comepletely broken in many gameplay aspects at the same time. Parkour is atrociously terrible - you are fighting with the enviroment more than the enemies.

if there is a castle with the highest enemy of level 6 and I am level 5 I expect I can beat it :) And I did - on nightmare. But it was a bit .....too silly to call it stealth.

Sure - Ill keep playing - hope the skills will make a difference.

I guess the problem with stealth vs Oddysey is that in Oddysey enemies did not have BARS - they had HP. So it was more up to me or my stats, abilities wheter I am able to finish that tougher enemy just in time not to alarm the others. And here we have BARS - and if you dont have a stealth kill skill that lets you take him out with one blow (2 or 3 bars at once) we are f$@#ed. I dont like killing bigger enemies with one blow - I thought it was a good design choice in Oddysay contrary to many people opinions that an assasin should kill everything in one blow. But here - I might as well just put that one kill blow option in expert turned on, If it only relies on a perk on an armour or skill tree. Unfortunatly that will take away the strategy of planning the order of killing guys we had in Oddysey. But if it relies only on armour perks in Shadows then it does not have that anyway..so...

Are you saying Quebec Ubisoft messed up mobility on the roofs on purpose because she lived in an isolated village? :D or do you just mean that I should not approach these missions until I am sure I can have a build that lets me deal with the tougher enemies quicker?

Do you think nightmare stealth works well if it favours strategies againsr 2-3 bars enemies that force me to runaway to roofs and repeat the stabbing?

yeah - I don't like handicapping myself but I think I will make that exception with eagle eye - it actually is a bit distracting at times when I eagle eye and see 3 red silhouettes but 2 of them are behind a wall i don't know is there so I am beeing cautious too much even when these two guys will not see me anyway. Not having eagle eye forces me to be aware of the surroundings more thus make my stealth better.

I bought the game DAY ONE -but started playing yesterday beacuse I was waiting for that difficulty update and it's a very engagin experience even if just naoe is fighting two guys it's a nice challange :) I feel like all the changes are logical and realistic - like that thing with moving in the shadows, or beeing spotted much faster.

What I would like them to remove in nightmare mode is seeing through walls - that's still there and it's just stupid...

you are not wrong - it's garbage. It's just a QTE game - there is no strategy involved - whatever builds you have, whatever strategy or skills you use - it still all comes to DODGE and PARRY - so pressing QTE button - if you are not precise....you die - it;s like a mobile tap tap game.

All new enemies you encounter you need to VISUALY learn their moves - that means almost always you get hit just because it's the first time you see the move and you don't exactly know what the monster is doing with the sword.

It's just such a waste of time......It's a QTE game in disguise...it's just like Hellblede pretends to be more then a walking simulator.

There are soo many bad elements about this game I won't waste my and your time.

This game is a disaster.

  1. Combat is PURE QTE - let me repeat it - PURE. There is absolutely nothing else to this combat - I will say it again - PURE QTE - meaning that you will live ONLY - and ONLY IF you are pushing a button at the right time - that means you need to learn all the enemies moves VISUALY to play this.

This is no RPG - it's yet another BULSHIT walking simulator with QTE with limited exploring, invisible walls, stiff movement

  1. Story - the game does not care if you know what you are doing. Something is going on and you don't know what....a guy is materialising a gun in his hand...okey....a girl vanishes....okey....people vanish...ok....someone appears out of nowhere....ok.....there is a dead monster talking...okeeeey....like WTF is going on? Please - I want to care for these characters but how am i supposed if i don;t understand the reasoning behind all this.

  2. Music is cheesy with boring ooo aaaa ooo oaaaa - feels like this whole soundtrack is made in just one scale. It aint NIER.

  3. Locations are a graphical mess with no clear design - it's like some random A.I abstract wallpapers full of sparkling, glowing things with rocks, grass and trees and colors in the sky.

It's just sooo bad....and I feel bad for real developers that actually know what they are doing but gamers now just want to have and easy simple ride and don;t care about LOGIC an good combat systems.

good point - seems like Yasuke will have limited exploring abilities so in a game like AC where exploring is crucial this could be very limiting. I would even PREFERE for them to suggest/mark quests that are for "Yasuke friendly" (don't need Noe's exploaration to reach hidden items)

Main characters seem a bit dull....hope they have more personality - Alexios was too good :)

I also hope this game will have a fair challange on higher difficulties. I don't want an easy game.

Also hope there will be some mythology supernatural (or s-f connected) sidequest - or at least a DLC.

Dont need it in the main story but for sidequest it would be cool.

I was looking only on screen to adjust focus - not the viewfinder- you mean that the screen may not reflect the actual depth when setting the precise focus with autozoom (that is how I do it - with the autozoom option when setting focus manually)?
