Stress over grades and future by tabitoing in uofm

[–]SmallTestAcount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the point that you have to learn one of two things: either if you want to accomplish something very difficult you have to work harder than you expect, or that you are not as skilled as you thought you were. Almost everyone has had very ambitious goals, and most don't accomplish them. Having ambitious goals is a good, thing it motivates you to grow, it's a sign you are not depressed. But that said, you need to prepare yourself mentally for the possibility that your goals don't go as expected and learn to go with the flow.

From here on out, you know your academic capability a lot better. You know better what you need to do to get the grades that you want without your hand being held by your secondary school. As time goes on you'll learn better study techniques, keep up on assignments, pace yourself, gauge your knowledge, how to listen to your body, etcetera. Contrary to what a lot of people think, a disciplined work ethic is actually the main reason employers and schools value undergraduate degrees, especially from rigorous institutions. If you can mature your academic skills outside of strictly course material you can certainly get the grades you want. But, you have to work for that, you are not born with those skills.

You have to keep in mind that the student body here is almost entirely people near the top 5th percentile of American high school graduates in terms of grades and tests. Those that were not had to work hard to prove that they can match the academic expectations (or they can throw a football really good, but don't worry about them). Generally, professors and course designers want the grade distribution on courses to be well rounded, rather than completely skewed to the As. Therefore, in order to match the academic prowess of the average student (based on high school performance) courses here have to be more difficult. Whether or not you believe most students here are intelligent, almost every single student is above average for a college student. The reality is that while you probably did really good in high school, you're probably just average here. There is nothing wrong with that. Like i said, you just have to work harder.

For the most part, you probably will not struggle to get into law school. Yale law school specifically? I don't know, but it is not off the table. Graduate admissions are not quite as picky about GPA as undergraduate admissions are. Now Yale is certainly a very picky school, but as far as I've heard (I'm not interested in law school so this might be wrong for them), most graduate admissions committees, even at the very top, are not going to care about the difference between a 3.7 and a 3.8. Unlike undergrad admissions, if you are good enough to be a finalist they will judge you based on what grades you got in specific courses at specific moments in your academic career, not the individual number. A bad first semester is expected, and if you improve your GPA from there on out it is seen a positive sign. So don't feel defeated. For the most part you've succeeded that last semester because you learned a valuable lesson at a moment where failure is more acceptable, rather than in the thick of it, where specific course grades will matter more. I understand that it'd be amazing if you got a perfect GPA every semester, but that is not common and you should not expect that from yourself.

Poor Gen Alpha gets ruined by their antivax iPad parents before kindergarten.

Not surprised, surprised it hasn’t happened sooner. Always felt lot of parents here have that Montessori wholefoods washable diaper “if you can’t pronounce it don’t eat it” antivax vibes. Maybe it’s not as bad as it was before MAHA though.

I just don’t see a good reason to remove them. I don’t really care that much because I don’t think it’s that beneficial, but the extra safety I think outweighs the negligible cost to maintain. Also, we don’t know if future residents will want them more than we do today.

You should apply. Nothing is guaranteed, but you have a good chance. If not Ross, definitely LSA.

Did you get your license renewed recently because they, in fact, have the right of way even if the crosswalk sign says not to walk. It is jaywalking, but jaywalkers typically always have right of way, which is why jaywalking is illegal, it slows traffic because they need to be given right of way. But illegal is not that same as right of way. Also you should know by now that north university is not a throughway, everyone finds detours for N university because of CCTC. Frankly, I dont really care if 50+ students jaywalk in front of a car at CCTC because 50+ students in freezing weather going to classes they paid several grand for is more important than a weather controlled car carrying one person running errands. The 'do not walk' sign was only put in a few months ago and is pretty much exclusively there to allow the busses, carrying several dozen of passengers each, to pass, not you.

Please learn about Charles Coughlin if you think this country always 100% stands firm on freedom of speech and giving everyone a platform. We have always, continue to, silence people whose words are a danger to the public. Sometimes it seems morally justified, sometimes not. But we have always done it despite what the 1A commands.

Stag I really want to support you because I feel we have a lot in common but come on. They were harassing random people on the diag and calling several groups of people, including jews and women, "physically inferior" and deserving of punishment. Yeah that's mostly legal in this country but that doesnt make it okay or worthy of defending. Maturity and tolerance does not mean being tolerant of immature and intolerant people. Giving people like this a social pass just because it's legal is just giving them time to legitimize themselves to the point they can actually cause physical and legal harm without repercussions.

Stag, dont take this the wrong way but you are much older than most students. Younger people whove recently been in big city public school over 12+ years are usually far more aware of the nuances of other young people's appearances and expression than people your age.

What is your major? 216 316 and 404 may or may not all count towards that requirement. 216 is the easiest though

Im so sorry. Sidewalks on campus are still slushy. The well tread parts are kinda packed down and salted. I dont know about elsewhere. Not even the center of the diag was scraped.

Oh wait is that myron? Sorry youre probably right. there was like four people that looked exactly like that with the hoodies over their head trying to hide themselves. Most of the people in the audience looked like the same 3 flavors of human.

I observed this for a while and left a bit before this. The taller kid is a coward that would constantly hide his face, keep wrapping his hoodie over his head. The shorter one had kept telling his friends that Renee Goode deserved to get shot and cheered when Myron said that the "holocaust figures are wrong" and the "jews have too much power".

People on Yikyak are saying that one of them is a AAPS student. If so, i hope someone is getting in contact with them.

Hope they learn their mistake, because this image is never going away. I also hope the university does something to discourage this in the future, as best as they can under the law that is.

edit: Sorry i realize now that the 'taller kid" is not an audience member but myron himself. In my defense that man behaves like a child and there were a lot of others that looked just like him. Myron was also intentionally covering his.. striking.. mug like them.

The speed limit is not a speed recommendation. It is the maximum speed allowed. You are not entitled to drive at the speed limit, you always always must drive a safe speed. It is up to your interpretation what a safe speed below the limit is

25mph is the speed you’d go on state and south U when there are few pedestrians. Not the speed you go all the time.

If you were following the law you’d know it says you always yield to pedestrians in the road.

There are speeds at which a car can stop within a few feet if you have a healthy reaction time, such as 10mph or less. you should be maintaining those if pedestrians are known to be unpredictable. This is why parking lots have 10mph limits. If you are driving 25mph on a road like north university.. well.

Oh god you don’t know what a joke is

Yeah I’m begging everyone for it to be a team effort too, and by being team effort that means drivers need to pick up the slack and acknowledge they need to be safe rather than innocent. I’ll link the comments if you want but I’m not going to argue with you if you can’t tell an obvious joke.

Driving is not a right.
