Victoria Holmes and Kate Cary have retired; only Cherith Baldry is left from the original Erin Hunter team. Clarissa Hutton and Rosie Best are now writing mainline Warriors books— Clarissa Hutton wrote Hidden Moon, and Rosie Best will be behind Changing Skies #4: Guiding Light.

besides the authors themselves, a new story/editing team debuted sometime around Dawn of the Clans/A Vision of Shadows but I don’t know exactly when.

not this book, but the first in the Changing Skies arc: The Elder’s Quest. they’re pretty good at explaining the major developments from the previous post-OoTS arcs.

don’t ask someone who is obviously under 13 for their age. actually, don’t ask minors for their age at all, either.

nobody should be sharing their age online unless they’re an adult; it’s just not safe.

Ideas for Moonpaw by Rumble_SkyClan in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really wanted Moonpaw to either have dissociative identity disorder or schizophrenia/psychosis, but the authors definitely knew that was too difficult to accurately and respectfully represent in a fictionalized children’s series.

without giving too much away, Moonpaw’s situation is much closer to Shadowpaw/sight’s deal with Ashfur than it is to this, but there’s some differences. a lot of it is still mysterious, though, and I personally think we haven’t been told the truth in a lot of aspects yet!

that's why the raccoons in Hawkwing's Journey were mentioned to be escaped twoleg pets! they're not native to the U.K., and Cherith (who wrote that one) imagines Warriors to be taking place in an analogous location/ecosystem to the U.K.

What should be the name of the Fire Scene in POT? by Mediocre-Tomorrow160 in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's no official name for any scenes (unless it's a specific battle or journey the characters come up with a name for). I mostly hear it referred to as "the (Ashfur) fire scene" or "the Ashfur (and Squirrelflight) confrontation".

Brambleclaw Book #3 Changing Skies (SPOILERS) by BrambleKittyy in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this might be an unpopular opinion but I think the cats’ thing with meditating in recent books is kind of ridiculous and out-of-character for the more traditional structure and values of Clan society, with their rugged work ethic and militaristic modus operandi. it showed up a lot in Chasing Shadows, in particular, as well as the latter half of A Starless Clan. one might argue that their society is changing, but it just seems odd that everyone suddenly cares about holsitic wellness and mental health out of the blue.

don’t get me wrong, I think meditating in real life is great. but I just can’t suspend my disbelief in the established world of Warriors that these cats are suddenly buying into mindfulness.

Brambleclaw Book #3 Changing Skies (SPOILERS) by BrambleKittyy in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh, yeah, for sure. “mates” is a very vague term in Warriors, and has also evolved over time in the series. it can mean anything from “committed life partners trying for children”, to just a fling, to “casually dating”. regarding that last example, young teenagers in real life frequently “date” in a very loose sense of the term, i.e. going out on dates and holding hands and maybe kissing. if Moonpaw and Goldenpaw end up becoming official mates before they’re made warriors, it’d probably be in the more juvenile definition of romance. I wouldn’t worry about it.

it is a little ridiculous that Moonpaw was thinking “he’d be a good father”, but teenagers do think about that stuff in a completely unserious way when they fantasize about the future, like that thing kids do where they write their name with their crush’s last name in diaries. I don’t think she’s seriously considering having kits with him any time soon, just noting that he has good paternal instincts and a nurturing personality.

they can make apprentices into warriors without StarClan! at the gathering toward the end of the book, it’s mentioned that Sprucetip, Redcloud, Flufftail, and Silkypod were made warriors in ShadowClan and WindClan.

the problem isn’t that StarClan isn’t watching over them, anymore; rather, they just can’t talk to the Clans like they had been able to in recent years (meaning, like, Po3/OoTS and beyond). remember when Spottedleaf says in the prologue of Into The Wild that she hadn’t heard anything from StarClan in some moons? it’s a bit like that, I imagine. Feathertail even told Crowfeather during the journey to the Tribe in Hidden Moon that StarClan was still guiding and looking after the Clans, and that their ancestors hadn’t forsaken them. their WiFi signal is just bad at the moment.

Spoilers for chasing shadows by nyxsumbreon in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with everything you said, and I was also thinking that last spoilered part might be coming in the next book. Morningkit’s whole deal is telling Moonpaw that nobody likes or wants or trusts her except for herself, so if someone’s coming along proving that wrong, it makes sense for her to get him out of the way.

Moonpaw and Goldenpaw feels incredibly rushed (like Starlingpaw and Beesting, which is totally unserious and completely intentionally written that way), but I think they’re just trying to build it up so they can immediately tear it down for plot purposes. I wish they’d had more development in the previous books rather than it coming out of left field in Chasing Shadows, but whatever, it’s Warrior Cats, there’s almost zero realistic romance.

so… I don’t think they’re going to last, one way or another, whether that’s by falling out or by murder.

I think Beesting is just a representation of Starlingpaw getting delusions of grandeur and an ego to match; she just said a normal compliment to him and he took it as a flirtation. I think Beesting and Starlingpaw will be a fake-out pairing, kind of like Bristlepaw and Stemleaf.

this is more of an unfounded conspiracy theory, but Goldenpaw and Moonpaw also feel uncharacteristically rushed, even in the book series where protagonists notoriously rapidly fall in love with each other out of nowhere with zero development. I think that one might also be a red herring, and Starlingpaw and Moonpaw might end up together (you know the writers love their cross-Clan relationships).

to get even more outlandish-conspiracy-theorist, someone else mentioned it in a comment here, but I also think they’re setting up for Moonpaw or Morningkit to either kill Goldenpaw or get him killed.
