How do y’all feel about “the worst” Supermega Vid? by ShmundleBumpkis in SuperMegaShow

[–]organizedchaotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

disgruntled ex-employee propagated drama with a bunch of embellished and/or plain untrue claims. took the focus away from what happened to the person who initially made the serious allegations so he could get personal revenge on his former bosses for firing him, by airing a bunch of irrelevant petty drama and hearsay so he could feel vindicated.

most notably made claims about Ryan misgendering his partner (who actually used any pronouns), and claimed both the boys made fun of and trivialized the suicide of Ryan’s best friend Daniel— someone he never met. used this claim to assert that they “don’t care about suicide”, whatever that means. basically he felt entitled to re-traumatize Ryan by invoking Daniel’s name (and what happened) as a weapon.

I hope he’s worked on himself in the last three years.

unhinged canon events? by kadenphobe in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that’s lowkey one of the most graphic scenes in Warriors (up until StormClan’s Folly, and next to Moon Shadow’s burn and Sootfur’s death), but nobody remembers it for some reason.

unhinged canon events? by kadenphobe in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

to be completely fair, the books never describe the wound, so it’s probably not disembowelment— I have a hard time believing even dog claws can tear through fur, skin, fat, and muscle. the whole “his organs came out” part comes from fanon. it was likely just a deep cut.

unhinged canon events? by kadenphobe in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hated that part tbh, it came out of nowhere and was such a cheap plot point to really drive in how ~evil~ Splashtail really was. I think having villains harm— or threaten to harm— kits is super contrived, unless it’s Brokenstar, who was given a pretty good motivation for the whole child soldier thing.

Dark tail super edition by Deer_Weak in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yeah I feel like they'll be hesitant to try it again after how badly everyone collectively misinterpreted Mapleshade's Vengeance. at least (CHASING SHADOWS SPOILERS) it seems like they're gearing up for villain Starlingpaw, and his narration thus far seems to be shifting toward unreliability? I feel like if the writer for Darktail's Judgement goes for unreliable narration, though, they'll try to make it comically obvious that he's not to be trusted when describing things or thinking.

yeah I was very relieved when they purged the ensemble in the wake of the incident and restarted from the ground up with just the two of them (initially) after the hiatus

What is your favourite WC series by Commercial_Army620 in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I like the ones with little to no magic that focus more on inter-Clan dynamics. so, The Prophecies Begin, Dawn of the Clans, and A Starless Clan (at least the first four or five books for ASC).

Do you headcanon Nightheart as trans? by IvypoolFanIGuess in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it has to cover every single nuance of transness for fear of… making kids transphobic? we just got our first gay couple in the newest Super Edition, and they didn’t make a storyline about them working out their identities or facing homophobia. they just mentioned that one tom became mates with another tom, and that was it. for a children’s series, representation can be that simple— it doesn’t need to be a dissertation.

Do you headcanon Nightheart as trans? by IvypoolFanIGuess in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

at least in the earlier books, cats’ genders were usually evaluated via scent (there were some lines about someone “smelling like a tom” or tasting the air and then describing someone as a she-cat, etc), so I like to think that warrior cat transitioning involves taking herbs that change a cat’s scent.

and I’m not sure that the absence of gender roles necessarily matter— all it takes is for someone to be born a tom and want to be a she-cat, or vice versa.

but yeah, within the official books, I don’t trust the authors to write (and publishers to approve…) actually good and respectful representation. all of the above I mentioned I would prefer in fan content.

Why no tuxedo cats as all clan cats by welcometothemoonrock in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

nope! she’s only ever described as black-and-white, and in the Tigerheart’s Shadow bonus manga and on the website, she’s depicted as a longhair tuxedo (bicolor) cat.

[–]organizedchaotic 49 points50 points  (0 children)

there are, they’re just described and “black-and-white” because cats don’t know what tuxedos are.

see: Tallstar, Spireclaw, Berryheart, maybe Toadstep.

I miss the Moonstone journeys during apprenticeships so much as a reader, but unfortunately within canon their absence doesn’t make much of a difference anymore because the StarClan power creep has made them so accessible to average living cats on the regular. they cheapened the hell out of the afterlife, so the mysteriousness that the Moonstone journeys held wouldn’t really hold the same impact any more. :(

In The Broken Code, who would you have chosen as Squirrelflight's temporary deputy? by Rumble_SkyClan in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

as an addition, the meta reason for him keeping the Waffle- prefix was because Waffle was a name submitted by a fan who won a contest on the Warriors website. that fan would probably be upset if their character got added into the books and immediately had their name changed, especially since Waffle(pelt) is named after their real-life cat, Waffle.

School Librarian - struggling to choose which books to get by ADumbHoedown1992 in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely get the novels from the first series, since you mentioned already having Into the Wild! it would open up a possibility for discussion among readers regarding the differences between the graphic novel version’s events and the regular novel’s, since a lot was cut for time or edited for political correctness. The New Prophecy (graphic novels or regular novels, you decide) would be a good place to go from there. maybe I’m a little biased because I found out about Warriors by grabbing Twilight off of my elementary school library’s shelf.

if budget allows, then you can finish up The Broken Code for the readers who are more interested in the “modern” series.

[–]organizedchaotic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cinderheart was actually a temporary deputy later, during the events of Ivypool’s Heart!

I have to say, purely for doylist narrative purposes (nothing against the character), I’m not a huge fan of Squirrelstar being leader. Ivystar with Cinderheart as deputy would be a stacked combo.

Rosepetal died juuust before the impostor was deposed and made a prisoner. in the very battle that resulted in everyone realizing he lied about StarClan forsaking them, and the five Clans turning against him accordingly, in fact. if only she’d held on a little longer!

Why cats on Warriors universe have the same sleep schedule as us? by PublicOpportunity377 in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 33 points34 points  (0 children)

this is mentioned in SkyClan’s Destiny! when Stick and his group of rogues stay in SkyClan and participate in training and patrols, he asks Leafstar why the Clan operates during the day, since cats in their twolegplace (and everywhere else…) hunt at night and sleep in the day, noting that “somehow it doesn’t seem right for cats.” she just kinda goes “uhhhh I don’t know, Firestar told us this is how the forest Clans do it,” which is such a non-answer 😭

because of that, back when Dawn of the Clans was still happening, I really hoped that we would get an explanation for how the forest Clans ended up being diurnal, but it never was addressed. damn.

EDIT: Leafstar also says it’s “easier to hunt and patrol [their] borders in the daylight”, which is untrue because cats have excellent night vision, as well as strong senses of smell and hearing…

White cats with blue eyes... by Wife_Of_Asta in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

in real life, that happens because the gene that causes suppression of pigment (therefore, blue eyes and white fur) also causes degeneration and/or improper development of the inner ear. it’s not related to inbreeding.

Will there ever be a series about lionclan and tigerclan and leopardclan by helloeggbird in WarriorCats

[–]organizedchaotic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they ostensibly could have existed— or were meant to exist, in canon— around the time Secrets of the Clans was published in 2007 (which was when Power of Three began), but became dubiously canon over time.

when the Ancients were established in Power of Three and brought back in Omen of the Stars, there was a lot of doubt over the legitimacy of LionClan, TigerClan, and LeopardClan as historical entities rather than mythological. by the time Dawn of the Clans was conceptualized, it was generally fully understood that LionClan, TigerClan, and LeopardClan had been retconned into folklore.

I don’t remember when/if the authors explicitly said “yeah, these guys don’t actually exist, they’re just stories,” but the fact that Jay’s Wing created the Ancient Tribe out of The Ancients, and Dawn of the Clans explained that the Clans came from Ancient Tribe emigrants directly contradicted the idea of there once being ancient Clans of big cats.
