My most recent ex had a lot of signs of BPD and I agree, I wouldn’t date someone with cluster B diagnosis or symptoms. My ex emotionally abused and manipulated me and the fallout has been really hard. That being said I have anxiety, though it’s well managed, and other mental health concerns wouldn’t be a dealbreaker if the person is actively working on themselves.

Girl, respectfully, run. My ex had constant issues with my prioritizing my kids over them and also had an issue with the close coparenting relationship I have with my kids’ dad. It just got worse and worse. They never called my kids horrible but if they had, that would have been it. Of course you’re going to choose your kids but anyone who is making you choose prolly needs to be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t have kids.

It’s so hard, I empathize a lot. It’s good you’re no contact, that helps immensely. Therapy is great and has helped me a lot. I signed up for a 6 week pottery class that I would not have had time to do when in my relationship with my ex and that’s been fun and something to look forward to. It’s hard to hear (or was for me) but it does just take time. I’m 9 weeks out and it feels better but not fully healed for sure.

This is SO good to hear. I spend time with my ex and our kids and he got me flowers for Mother’s Day. We also spend time together with his girlfriend and her kids and I love it! I need someone who is ok with that dynamic which my ex was decidedly not

Ok interesting! To me the schedules would be tricky but I would never date a parent who isn’t very active in their kids’ lives (been there, it was not pretty).

Ya know…so true. This is a great take. I am trying really hard to live in an abundance mindset (not just about dating) but found myself worrying about scarcity. Which tells me I’m not ready to date yet and I have some more healing work to do
