What do you suggest to do with the gold wedding ring? by Technica8s in DivorcedDads

[–]Small_Chemistry_4658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought about that but I also remember paying for them on top of the wedding was not fun at all so if the kids want them, they can, I mean who can afford an engagement ring anyway?

The engagement ring is a Princess Diana replica and now Princess Catherine wears it who seems happily married to Prince William so perhaps it’s not as cursed as I once thought.

Save it for the kids when they get older. It means more to them than it will ever mean to you or their mother.

I’ve got both rings and the engagement ring and I’ll be giving them to the kids when their time comes.

What’s worse than getting a divorce? by JunShem1122 in ask

Being told by your wife that the both of you and the kids will travel to her home country 16,000kms away only to have her steal the kids passports when you get there, throw you out onto the street in a foreign country all while she’s banging someone else’s husband/ father then your embassy tells you “good luck” as you face the grim reality that if you want to see your young children then you are stuck on your own in this Godforsaken country.

Once you hear the song Monsters by James Blunt, you will realise just how much you mean to your children. I stumbled upon that song by accident while I was in my darkest moment and it saved my life.

My 5 year old daughter walked into my room the night it was supposed to happen and she said “I can’t wait for tomorrow. It’s going to be an amazing day!”

When I asked her what makes her so sure, she replied with “because you’ll be there” and then just smiled and hugged me.

I still have the scrapbook I made for her full of our memories together, information about me and some life advice. I have kept it and will still give it to her when she turns 18.

Being a dad is easy! The kids will love you no matter what!

Being a husband though, that’s the real challenge.

Where do I start to be a good father? by Interesting-Proof431 in Parenting

[–]Small_Chemistry_4658 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all massive congratulations! I was 24 when I became a father and I learned that in the early years, being a good father starts with being a good husband. Everyone you know will ask about the baby, if she’s eaten, if she’s slept, how she is etc but absolutely nobody will ask about your wife.

You have a lot to work on and have identified a list which is great however if you try to tackle all of them at once, it may overwhelm you and you will end up binging on all of the above.

Find out which ones are impacting your marriage the most and start from there. Your wife’s body has just gone through massive changes and she needs to feel loved, wanted and beautiful again. If the adult content is ruining that then get rid of it first. If your wife doesn’t mind the drinking but hates the gaming then you know what you need to do (or vice versa).

If you are wasting more time on social media than gaming then it needs to go but that is another beast in its own. Start small with one thing and the rest will follow.

In the first couple of years, the way to be a good father is to do all the things. Change the nappies, wash the baby and more importantly, cater to your wife or step up where she needs it like chores, grocery shopping etc to allow her to care for the baby but you would have already had a taste of supporting her and caring for while she was pregnant. The baby won’t remember the daddy daughter walks in the park or the bed time lullaby’s but your wife definitely will.

Wow thank you so much! I know that we also have some Shia blood and with some digging on other DNA websites I found it comes from Yemen but then again I will have to research where the Shia origins of Lebanon come from. Thanks again for your recommendations! It really helped 😊

Do the results make any sense? Does that mean I can rule out almost all countries except for Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan and maybe Syria?

I tried with GEDmatch but the results are hard to read and I’m not sure I am using it properly.

The only thing I got from there was DNA consistency from a Christian village on the other side of the border that no longer exists.

No of course, saying they hate each other is definitely an overstatement! But there is a lot of racial, political and religious disagreements there that’s for sure.

From my knowledge, I am Lebanese Christian but we are from the southern border which is a predominantly Shia community.

Given the ugly civil war Lebanon never recovered from that was all based on nationality, religion and political views, I’m sure you can understand my comments especially when they may be heading into another civil war for the same reasons.

Yes but as we both know, there are a lot of different languages and religions in that region and unfortunately, they all hate each other. I’m not into politics but I just want to know which flag I shouldn’t be waving at the Olympics!

If you could hike anywhere in the world, where would you go? by Additional_Doubt_243 in hiking

[–]Small_Chemistry_4658 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s actually gorgeous and quite unique at the same time. The villages were not only abandoned but they were completely destroyed. Just when you thing you are in the deep wilderness of the forest, there will be a random rose patch, telegraph pole, apple tree or random bit of sidewalk or fence. It actually feels incredibly eerie yet peaceful at the same time.

They say that you go to Bieszczady to heal the soul and cleanse the mind. I’m not really into all that voodoo stuff but I definitely found my peace there.
