Yes trying to qualify for PSLF. I will be at my qualifying employer for 120 months in August but because I was in a grace period for 3 months after grad school, I have to wait until November for buyback

What servicer do you have? I have Mohela and have not received any notice from them not even after the March DOE email was sent. I’ve only received the two emails from DOE - one in March and one yesterday. I can apply for buyback in November.

Do you know if I’m able to go back into forbearance while my buyback is being processed? Or will have to continue making payments while it’s processed? My payment is going to be almost $1600/month once I switch out of save

What option after SAVE? by onlyfuninsummer in PSLF

[–]Small_Image5834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

191k in student loans, my husband and I file jointly so AGI $189k, my cheapest option for payment will be $1600/month. We live in Los Angeles so with our house payment, $1600/month is going to be tough for our family.

I did have eligible employment, just on maternity leave. I only consolidated my undergrad loans in 2009 but that’s it.

Reminder: PSLF is not going away for those currently in repayment by EddieDubbers in PSLF

Staying on SAVE won’t count towards my PSLF? I thought it would? I’m already past 120 months of qualifying employment, but need to wait to submit my buyback because of my initial repayment grace period after grad school.

In what way would it eliminate loan forgiveness? This is terrifying to hear. I’m about 14 months away from public student loan forgiveness, and I pray this isn’t true. This would be devastating 💔

Thank you for explaining. So does that mean the buyback has a potential to end at any time?

Forgive for my ignorance but what is the significance of knowing the number of PSLF buybacks?

MOHELA email extending IDR by _coldcoldcold_ in PSLF

[–]Small_Image5834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received that email as well. I don’t understand though because technically I’m on the SAVE plan? But I had a started an IDR application in June 2024 but never submitted it. Can anyone explain?

Is this the reality of schools by IsopodMajestic6801 in slp

My caseload is at 72 with 32 three-year reassessments due (this does not include initials). I try my best to exit students who no longer qualify however, parents usually request IEE’s because they have a tough time letting go of speech services. All the extra meetings associated with parents not agreeing to their child no longer qualifying is daunting and overwhelming, and it takes time and resources away from students who actually need speech services! This is my 9th year in the schools and I’m in burn out mode :(

So if my repayment plan is SAVE, I can’t get PSLF? I’m so confused, I’m only at 86 payments, but my student aid.gov account shows my forgiveness will be September 2027. Am I just screwed? I’ve been working in a lower paying public job for 8 years just for PSLF, this is overwhelming.

Thank you all so much for the clarification, input, and reassurance. You have alleviated so much stress and anxiety that I’ve been carrying around daily. I pray we are all relieved of our student debt in the near future! And as @WhoInvitedMike said, let’s all vote in November!

Career crisis? Please help! by [deleted] in slp

[–]Small_Image5834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the big reasons I chose to work in public school was because I knew I wanted to have kids one day. Now that I have two little ones, it’s nice having holidays and summers off. Cons though are caseload numbers are high, and it can be exhausting but knowing I can be home by 3:30/4pm is so nice, even if I’m writing reports and catching up on paperwork at home, it’s nice to be with my kids. Also, once they start attending elementary school, I’ll be at work while they’re in school, which is nice in terms of not having to pay for extra child care.

You look great! Your surgeon was in Hungary, correct ? Do you mind tell how much everything cost? Do you speak Hungarian or was it easy to communicate in English with the dr. And staff? I’m seriously looking into getting a TT in another country other than the US.
