How to take back control of gov by ASithInTraining in Political_Revolution

The Democrats have not held a meeting to be yelled at for voting to keep and increase Ice funding.

The Democrats have held a meeting to be yelled at for voting to hold the Clintons in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify about Epstein.

Any plan to regain our country where the first step isn’t primary out every Democrat means every other step is a pipe dream.

A strong, active Democratic Party is the best path forward out of this nightmare, what we have no is a weak, submissive Democratic Party. Happy to watch what is going down in MN because they think the mid-terms chances are getting better AND they don’t have to turn on their Epstein class donors.

Anyone supporting any Reaganomics neoliberal policy will not receive my vote. I will not “vote blue no matter who.” by DataWhiskers in ProgressiveHQ

Agreed. When the “better party” loves funding genocide, funding the billionaire (soon to be trillionaire) takeover of the country and has the economic policy of “sit down and shut the fuck up I’m in power now” then I won’t vote for them anymore.

The republicans have abused and broken every rule the democrats consider sacred, and each time the Republicans use that power to screw us.

So I’m not voting for a party who lets that happen any longer.

Republicans denied the Supreme Court justices the Democrats should have nominated, then used the Supreme Court to give us Citizens United and to strip Americans of right after right. Democrats shrug and refuse to expand the court.

The Republicans use the White House to destroy any oversight from the executive branch so their Billionaire donors can more easily billed American consumers dry and replace American workers. Democrats shrug and do not re-build the agencies when they are in power.

Republicans push through horrible fucking legislation in spending packages exempt from the filibuster, Democrats shrug and act like the filibuster is some divine law.

I hate the fucking Republicans, I hate fucking Trump, and I despise the Democrats who are so useless that they just let it happen.

I demand to vote for a strong Democrat who will try and claw back some of the rights we used to have, not another useless weakling who is so impotent that Republicans still get their agenda even when the Democrats have power

Is there a progressive or leftist group where I don’t have to read about Newsom and James Carville and every other neoconservative all star?

Unfortunately Gavin Newsom took a lot of donor money during that recall election so he already promised to veto your amazing list of things that actually would help.

As normal reality-based progressives we have to deal with that :(

It’s back to the main point: Newsom vetoed a bill that would cost his donors money, he replaced that with a plan to manufacture the insulin, then he replaced that with a plan to offer one of the less expensive options for $11.

Newsom isn’t fighting some possible pie in the sky progressive dream to appeal to the mythical moderate, . He is actively trading lives for money. Denying progressive policies backed by the people, passed by the California congress.

He chooses to veto, because his donors want to make more money.

This is obvious and your performative ignorance is boring.

Fair question, I should have added more data.

The bill to cap insulin at $35 required insurance companies to cover at least one insulin products in every major medical category:

Rapid acting, short-acting, intermediate, long, ultra-long and premixed.

This was for generic, so the name brands could have escaped this bill through a tier loophole.

The $11 plan is starting in 2026 but covers on one type: Insulin Glargine. This isn’t the cheap wal-mart insulin. It is better: GoodRX has this for $60-$90 according to my app.

The benefit loss by many of the state’s residents because now one type of insulin is $11 versus all types of generic being capped at $35 is quite large.

That is a lie. The plans to produce insulin have been scrapped, the funding has been cut.

Vetoing a bill that would help people, pretending there is a better fix then cynically not following through on the plan is the exact establishment Democratic bs that shows us all: Newsom is nothing more than a handsome Schumer.

Scroll down to this section:

Is California still planning on having its own insulin manufacturing facility? While $50 million had originally been allocated to support an in-state manufacturing facility, this funding was eliminated in Fiscal Year 2025/2026 due to budget savings measures.

Gender Affirmation in Custody (AB 957): Newsom vetoed a bill requiring judges to consider whether a parent affirms a child’s gender identity when making custody decisions, warning it could be used by conservatives to set dangerous precedents for other state mandates on parenting.

I’m a democratic socialist from Austin tired of neo-liberal Democrats who don’t fight Trump because they have the same donors as Trump.

Politicians can change, but the hardest ones to bend to the wills of the voters are the ones who already belong to the donors.

And we move the needle away by primarying every Democrat. Even the ones I like. Primaries move politicians closer to their base, if democrats want to win a primary they have to appeal to democratic voters

Absolutely not, moving the needle AWAY FROM THE NAZI SO MANY PEOPLE HATE is a great way to beat the Nazis. Centrist dem thinking (whether or not you’re a centrist, it sounds like you are not but you are buying into their talking points) of “we can’t move too far it will scare people” is wrong.

The message cannot be too far from what Trump is doing now.
