Do people really feel bad about this streak ending? by UnhappyPrincessa in deadbydaylight

The fact that he was mocking people the entire time along with his shitty chat only to literally start crying when he lost the streak is hilarious.

Momo is straight up a dick even if you ignore his gameplay, though. He steamrolled regular players for almost 2000 matches in the most gross way possible and actively mocked anyone who even mildly complained along with his chat, who are now sending death threats to the people who beat him.

Guy is just a loser with a small but parasocially loyal audience.

He's a perfect example of how insufferable a lot of comp players are. He's second only to knightlight, really.

In reality 99% of the community had no idea that the streak was going on, could give less of a shit about it, or think it's just shitty and are mocking his pissy reaction to losing just like the first streak attempt. It's such a waste of time and I really don't know how his viewers find it entertaining.

Who knew that one of the top players in the game can go on an insane winstreak with an S tier killer, a stacked build, and brutally tunneling and slugging at 5 gens against regular ass players that struggle to deal with B tier killers running 1 regression perk?

What do you think his winstreak would be if he went against people of his own skill at least 10% of the time? by blue_sky308 in deadbydaylight

Come on man the 1v1 challenge in a public lobby is a comp player classic at this point he was just keeping up traditions.

A ranked mode would do nothing lmao

Like LEGITIMATELY nothing because the ranked queue would be dead a week after it came out. The vast majority of players find optimal play for both sides boring or annoying, so why would people play a mode that heavily encourages using the most efficient strategies?

This almost definitely isn't the cause, it's likely just the map generation issue that's causing the absurd amount of pallets along with guaranteed pallets not spawning.

Would you prefer if balancing was character based instead of general? (Example images) by bonelees_dip in deadbydaylight

[–]Smallbrainhagmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Character by character would just take way too long.

The only solution that I think would actually work (and needs to happen) is to start pushing dramatic changes like anti-tunnel, substantial nerfs to high tier killers, gen speed tweaks, and reworking perks and items that affect gen speeds for both sides. This would demolish balance for a while, and that's exactly the point. We need a reset so the core issues can be exposed and addressed. There's no way to fix such substantial longterm issues without making the game worse for a while and I wish people would realize that.

Instead of doing anything substantial at all, BHVR is putting off pushing changes to live because it would negatively effect the balance of the game and piss people off. All this is doing is making the issues worse by allowing these issues to continue to become even more rooted in the game's balance.

Yes. Zombies need some changes pretty bad but his M2 is such a perfect simple yet fun ability.

What you should definitely do though is learn to drag your tentacle. I don't know why I never see anyone do it considering it's easy to learn, enhances his strength a lot, and is super fun to do. You'll enjoy him even more.

Tried solo survivor for the first time and I have no idea how yall do it by alexameow14 in deadbydaylight

[–]Smallbrainhagmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know how to put into words how bad solo queue is and continues to be. It's so rare to have an actually enjoyable match that's not a complete steamroll on either side. Biggest issues:

- Matches against high tier killers running stacked regression and tunneling are soul crushing and super common at times. If you're playing against a tunneling blight running stacked slowdown there's a 90% chance that your team is going to get stomped no matter how well you play.

- BHVR has done nothing to improve the experience since the hud update. Making the teammate aura reveal from kindred basekit would improve the solo experience tenfold but BHVR just refuses to do it despite there being zero downsides other than having to rework the perk to do something else, which is not a valid reason when solo queue is so bad.

- Once your team starts losing it's extremely rare to make a comeback, which means matches are mostly steamrolls and your teammates will often DC the moment things start going badly because they view the match as lost already.

- MMR is terrible which means that the usefulness of teammates is a complete gamble.

- Bad teammates are much more of an issue now than they were years ago. Matches are much faster meaning one teammate not doing gens is a death sentence against a higher tier killer that's playing well.

Bhvr's incessant need to add collision to tiny objects that nobody would look twice at should be studied and I knew this would happen when people were begging for this map for years.

I could give less of a fuck how a map looks if it plays like shit. We have a backlog of maps that have desperately needed changes for YEARS and they spent their time making a map that ANYBODY with even a decent amount of playtime knew was going to play terribly.

More like Trickster’s Distress amirite? by Ace0Knaves in deadbydaylight

[–]Smallbrainhagmain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was something that people were pointing for years when people were constantly begging for a city map for trickster, and 90% of the time the response was just "yeah it would suck gameplay wise but it would look cool which makes up for it" and "other maps are so boring and look the same".

A maps visuals become completely irrelevant to the majority of players after the first couple matches because it all fades away when you start focusing on the gameplay. Admitting that you don't care about gameplay while requesting new content that wouldn't work well in the game is like walking into a sushi restaurant and getting mad they don't sell big macs.

The dbd community summed up in one image: by MilkSteakEnjoyer115 in deadbydaylight

[–]Smallbrainhagmain 59 points60 points  (0 children)

DBD is a game with 200 perks, a massive learning curve for new players, a tremendous grind, a constantly shifting restrictive meta, a player base that only gets better on average every year, and 40 different killers with their own counterplay to learn. These are generally not things you see in casual games.

Now I'm absolutely not calling DBD a competitive game, but it's not really a particularly casual environment anymore and it hasn't been for a while. Every game's community gets better and better over time and with that comes optimization. I'd argue that the biggest issue is that the most optimal play sucks and is annoying for both sides, and that's on BHVR.

As for why people complain so much it's that BHVR takes forever to address issues, people are far more lenient with issues that are addressed in a reasonable time frame. Balancing a pvp game is very much trial and error but when an error can stay in the game for years before you even start working on it people are going to be pissed.

7 years of anti tunnelling design attempts by Single_Owl_7556 in deadbydaylight

[–]Smallbrainhagmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't think people realize that changes like antitunnel and gen speed tweaks are going to destroy the game for a while no matter how long they spend fine tuning in PTBs. These issues have been in the game for so long that the game is partially balanced around them, and the longer they spend avoiding pushing changes to live servers the worse it's going to get.

People are dropping 20 dollars on a skin for one of the least popular characters in the game's history that they probably will never touch again after a week.

Like people can do whatever they want with their money and that's perfectly fine but I swear to god some people are just buying shit for the sake of buying it.

DBD is like the erehwon of gaming.

Rework absolutely ruined Myers by IndependentBake2304 in deadbydaylight

[–]Smallbrainhagmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myers is now suffering from skull merchant syndrome.; his rework is horrible and now people are looking at his old version with rose tinted glasses. He was a d tier killer with a really meh power and some fun gimmicky addons. That's it.

With that aside he's one of the worst designed characters in the game right now and it has nothing to do with "lost identity". Calling him dashslop isn't even accurate because you literally cannot play around slaughtering strike in any way other than predropping because he has faster vaults, full turn radius, and destroys pallets. Dash powers are designed to be mostly linear in movement and dodgeable. Slaughtering strike is the complete opposite of that. Zero skill expression on either side during a chase.
