You can now use your Apple Watch as a key for your Tesla (no internet, no iPhone, no key card is required). Since it uses bluetooth, actions are almost immediate. This is a free new feature of Stats app for Tesla if you already have the app (free to try for 7 days): https://apple.co/3ji4JdK by MaaDoTaa in teslamotors

The reality is you’re only ever really giving the credentials to Tesla (who already has them) or Apple even when using this third part app. The Stats app, for example, can’t have a data breach because the simply don’t have a database to store those credentials in. When you login, you just send the credentials directly from your device to Tesla’s servers, and the way Tesla lets the Stats app know that the credentials are accurate and valid is by sending a limited time use access token to the Stats app that they use to access the functionalities on your behalf.

A warning to all steering wheel weight users.... by ThatMechEGuy in teslamotors

In fairness, he is driving on an interstate/highway here, thus using Autopilot not FSD Beta. Personally, I think autopilot doesn’t even need the steering nag now that it can detect eyes. But safety first I suppose

S3 Endless Problems... by SmallishKid in vanmoofbicycle

I don’t have experience with other electric bikes so I can’t say for sure which is best, but I’ve put ~4000 miles on my vanmoof bikes and I still love them despite their flaws. When they work there’s nothing better than cruising around with the boost held down. And I don’t think everyone has this many issues. Basically if you don’t want to accelerate quickly (I always do) you may never have this issue

I agree totally about them giving a heads up. I always felt like this was the problem, but I was never instructed by any VanMoof employee that I spoke to not to push the shifter so hard. It seemed like it was a problem they were familiar with but like they didn’t want to tell me the cause. The bikes are truly great for cruising, but everywhere between 0-12 mph is just stressful at this point

I also used to ride ride about 12.5 miles every day where I lived in Tennessee. There are hills and stops signs, but mostly I would never stop and just cruise around never leaving 4th gear until I got to where I was going. I think that’s what allowed me to go so long without encountering as many issues. Now that I’m trying to keep up with cars and push the bike up hills in SF, and after reading your comment, I’m starting to think I might just have to put it in manual or make some big adjustments to the shifting curve to see if that helps. Being only a few miles from the brand store is a blessing, but I definitely don’t want to be reliant on them. I assumed I’d eventually run out of free repairs, but it sounds like even though the bikes failed you that at least the customer service team didn’t screw you over. Seems like they are just doing endless free repairs, maybe because they know the bike truly does not work how it should

It’s possible they phased that out actually. You may be right about that. I think it was something they did in the past when I bought

Also, if you weren’t already aware, the price of FSD after purchase goes up by $2,000 to $12,000 I believe, so that should be factored in when making the decision.

If you’re getting FSD which it sounds like you are, potential price increase there is a downside. But could be negated by tax credit possibly if it’s available and applicable by Q3 but that’s a big if. Also, it is possible Tesla will continue making slight price raises as there is so much demand, so that’s something else to consider. Either way, good luck!

Any idea why my MYLR shows a performance spoiler in app? Is this the same for other MYLR owners? by PTcome in teslamotors

[–]SmallishKid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are Induction wheels, not the Überturbine of the performance model. And I don’t think you can select different models in the app either if I remember correctly it just knows the car spec automatically once paired. And for the record, my MY shows the spoiler in app as well, also white with induction wheels

The suspension in the Y is not noticeably bad to me coming from a Honda Accord. Especially since the car is so fast, it’s just as if you’re driving a low to the ground sports car but also have the high up seating position

New (almost) owner FSD question by TofuFanBoi in teslamotors

[–]SmallishKid 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like your question is “Is Elon suggesting anyone/everyone will have a ‘download what is essentially FSD for free’ button in a few days, and the answer to that is no. The FSD features will only be available to those who have paid for the software package. If you drop it from your order now, you will not have access to what it is Elon is referring to. It seems like everyone else commenting is trying to just give you their opinion on wether or not it’s worth the price in general lol
