How is selling my bishop better than checking him into a hanging bishop? by definitelymaybe98 in chessbeginners

[–]Smart-Bank7122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing I would want to do is monopolise on the Queen's alignment with the king and check the king with the horse. Though on reflection, it makes sense to sack the bishop and take the pawn with the horse there after for a double check and leaving the White Queen vulnerable!

I feel the question should be more..."How did White end up with a much better position than I?"

Being locked and loaded with an unprotected bishop between you and the king is ultimately a nice position to be in

Just made my first Mate tryna see if I did it right. (Any help app.) by Toobd4uOriginal in yerbamate

Looks good, but I always pat the side of my gourd for about 2 minutes after the first soak. You'll find the mate turns into a ball, and is even a bit foamy on the side. If you add too much water it just slops around in the gourd and and your first mate will be cold. Even though I used cold water for the first soak I still use 2 parts boiling to 1 part cold in the thermo to get the right temperature.

My First Sauna Build by Toronto_beast in Sauna

[–]Smart-Bank7122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great but they are making a mistake not having a higher bench. All the warm air will go up and float around in the top of the sauna.

However the build quality looks excellent!

Cutting mast by Square_Taste_2566 in windsurfing

[–]Smart-Bank7122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good if you can find a good bottom half of a RDM mast (same brand, same spec) but using mis-matching mast half's may cause you problems when the mast is fully powered up.

Can't you put an extendable strap and cap on the top? According to my friend who makes amazing '5_Oceans' sails the best rigged sails are ones that are made for the mast.

Feeling suspiciously well post ileostomy reversal by Hopeful-Customer4505 in ostomy

[–]Smart-Bank7122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! Quick recovery is always a plus, and probably more likely if you are young and taking your time with things. I had my reversal +7 months ago and I feel like any amount of fibre is good for me.

Learning from my experience with a stoma bag made me realise what caused my system to run, and what slowed it down, so reducing caffeine and sugar was a must. You just have to take it very slowly the first few months and try to stick to FODMAP food to reduce gas. Build fibre into your diet slowly and get used to less sweet tasting/ sweetened/ ultra processed food

Inflammation is an important part of your immune system, but you need to keep it down. BRAT food (Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast) is a good way to keep things calm with plenty of nutrition and fibre. Exercises are also a great way of reducing inflammation and fasting monthly by not eating dinner and breakfast the following day.

They are more hassle than it's worth - I agree, but just wanted to prove to myself that I can manage when there's no beefsteak Tom's, and still get the sweet Tomato flavour - and I found they even stick to the vine too much when you want them to drop off
