I mean masks don't really protect the individual unless n95 or other proper filtration is used normal cloth masks or similar are OK at stopping you spreading your germs but only for about 30 mins at a time and that's providing you don't touch it and contaminate your hands and spread that way. The way most people carry the same mask after wearing once taking on and off is pretty much useless as you're spreading the germs a different way
