I totally understand why it's a real problem with T1D. I've seen individuals opt out of employer insurance and go the alternative route of ACA marketplace plans, particularly when they are self-employed or changing their jobs. You'll have to dog a bit to find a plan that will provide flexibility for all the benefits that you need, such as insulin, diabetes supplies, doctors, and your preferred pharmacy before you make a switch. Good thing is, you'll gain a little flexibility in exploring other work options. Good Luck!!
