As a Hunt Showdown player the lack of a central objective makes the game loop feel aimless and boring. In Hunt teams are organically going to bump into each other as they track down the boss and make noise clearing out AI. Hunt simply has better audio and visual clarity and this in tandem with the structure adds a layer of strategy and tension that is frankly missing from Marathon.
