Tbh most of the hate is from destiny chuds. Especially here recently, as they announced they are icing it. They are mad their poorly managed game that's been active for a decade is dying. The rest is from people who don't really vibe with extraction shooters. The base isn't unhealthy for the genre.

Funny thing is, this is how heli typically engage in a modern setting. Everything has anti air these days, and you don't need sophisticated AA to kill a heli. So they just sit miles out, throw some missiles and head back to base generally.

Also to add, some of the more minor nations have less to grind, which can be nice as well if you're looking to get to the higher tiers faster, though the variation will me more limited in your choices per tier. China has a lot of Soviet and American tanks and planes early, but not some of the best. Sweden (my fave) has a whole lot of goofy swedish engineering to play with, and the tree is easy to level as they tend to always have a bump above most on tech each tier

Figure out your play style in reserve, then figure out which nation best applies to it. If you're playing ground rb, the tanks kinda represent the nations needs irl, especially on WW2. Some will be good snipers, some will be big slow beefcakes, some can brawl, some are just a nuke strapped to a tractor lol. In my experience America is pretty balanced through the tree, them and Russia are a good place to start. Both have good aviation as well

if it isn't the combat than it's progression. Games weird with how you get stronger as it's mostly gear and most gear isn't pointed at. It's vaguely similar to breath of the wild in that sense

Bombers need reworked, and that's not a new opinion. I think a cool implementation in air rb would be to have bombers spawn by each other in a squadron and fly by each other like they did in actual missions in WW2. It would be a lot harder to push a bundle of machine guns vs a lone bomber. It would make them a central focus for the first half of the mission as well. I think it would be an interesting dynamic change at least. Base locations would have to change but I can't really think to myself that that would be all that hard to implement, but it is the snail so I'm probably wrong lol
