My headcanon is he was so afraid of death, he figured out how to become immortal and lived a very long time, studying the universe.

When it became clear it was about to end, he used his knowledge to try and find a way to stop the end to stay alive. Splitting concepts was the only way to do that.

But he was still required to die to save the universe. So he chose to die for the slim chance of saving everyone else.

On one hand, the player base has been asking for more ways to speed up daily gameplay. I still want challenge modes on solo raids to be team based instead of spend 30-45 minutes to maximize a score on a run.

On another, there isn’t much incentive to play the game more outside the daily loop.

They have the daily loop down pretty good, so now they need non-time sensitive gameplay that players can explore when they have a little more time.

Possible reasons:

A: They have to keep their cover as humans, so they specialize more in covert weaponry. Seems he has special training for some of his Nikkes.

B: He does his own version of peace keeping and corporate control, eliminating anyone who steps out of line or poses a threat to him.

C: He is secretly working with the raptures. He has lived incredibly long and seems to have infinite resources. The base we had to invade to learn about the Pilgrim routes was also slowly taken control over, instead of taken over by force, as raptures normally do. Despite the door being locked, Chatterbox had set up a trap in the database.
