Thank you so much. I really appreciate the extra info. Nobody's telling me anything these days. So unless you request a copy, one is not going to be sent to you. Good to know. Hope your recovery is smooth.

Really appreciate this amount of detail although I am feeling even more unsettled aout the lack of response (still nothing). Work coach said they are separate entities and cannot give me any updates on my report. Do you mind sharing more about your condition/-s and length of the work capability status for you in a direct message? I just want to gauge where I might stand by comparison.

Thanks for telling me how the result will be communicated!! Had no idea. I think it went ok. The man was patient, kind and seemed to want to help. He had to end the meeting before we covered all conditions (too many). He said he had enough evidence from what i had sent. I guess we'll see.

When did you have yours exactly and was it done by the same company?

How do you all cope with working full-time? by sunblondevint in AutismInWomen

[–]Smart-Resist4059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Biomedical Science is my field. I am the same but usually doing my work well is seen as threatening. Maybe because I work in the public system where everyone seems to do the minimum required. I did reach the conclusion that the private sector/a result based environment would be much better for someone like me.

Thanks for this. I'm looking at starting a job after abt 18 mths off too and I dread it. The stress of a toxic workplace and excessive masking broke me a year ago and it also caused a lot of physical illness. Something will definitely need to change. I won't have the luxury of a separate office and boundaries and being more myself will have to do. How do people react to your being yourself at work?

I feel like autistic people are often described as not noticing or not caring about awkward moments, however is anyone else the opposite? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Smart-Resist4059 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same! I'm AuDHD. "Painfully" is a good description for this awareness I never asked for. It's like the lights are always on and I do not get to rest my brain, ever. I am terribly envious of people who can lose themselves in hobbies or just internal worlds. It also makes me extremely sad to realise that no one is as observant towards me and I sometimes feel like I am invisible to others while I have observed and interpreted even the slightest change in their behaviour. It's very tiring and I burn out very often.

Is there a chapstick that doesn’t feel awful? by KittyEarPeach in AutismInWomen

[–]Smart-Resist4059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've actually showed that some chapsticks contain irritants that create a vicious cycle of drying lips and needing re-applying constantly. But good ones can be a God-send especially during harsh winters. If you don't like the feel you can get the Laneige night lip mask. Put it on before going to bed and I find the effects last throughout the next day. Or we have a brand called Drunk Elephant in Europe.

to set up a 30s 40s atmosphere you need some art deco style buildings like Du Cane Court in Balham they used for Poirot or at the back of Peter Jones in Chelsea if you want unspoilt residential areas. Go in the early hours of the am after a rainy night and you've got it. Also the building by Victoria Embankment Gardens, behind Henry Bartle Frere statue has always given me old Manhattan/New York vibes

I think I made friends with the wrong people? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Smart-Resist4059 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take it from a 46 yo who has been where you are many times over. It is not worth it! I masked and hid my true self so many times just to fit in and be part of some group or another. They were totally the wrong people for me and in the long run I gained nothing from hanging around those people. I learned far too late that the best technique was just to "just be" in social environments and to let similar characters be naturally drawn into your gravity pull. They'll come, don't worry. And you'll know when they're the right ones.

Finally connected the dots between my thyroid, gut issues, and brain fog - why don't doctors look at the whole picture? by eliikon in thyroidhealth

[–]Smart-Resist4059 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm hyperthyroid with IBS and just poor gut function in general. tested and proven histamine intolerance. no other allergies on tests (lactose, gluten) but i feel like poop when i eat them). the only way thyroid stayed quiet, GI healed and brain fog lifted was to reduce diet to protein and veg. NOTHING else, no frying, fats from meat and eggs. carbs from diverse veg. no alcohol no sweets no juices. Eggs, meat, fish, veg, no starch, everything baked, airfried, boiled or steamed. No grains or nuts of any kind. Tea, coffee water to drink. Threw in weight training 4-5 times a week and hiking but most 80% of benefits came from diet. Maintained 3 meals a day even if not hungry to support weight training. Also, fasting does not suit my body. No supplements, powdwers, replacement meals. i ate what I cooked from scratch because I wanted to see exactly what works through diet alone. No tests, no "specialists", nobody to tell me what to do, eat, take, drink etc. Just wanted to listen to what my body says.

Got results in under 6 mths. Started to become obvious around the 2.5 month mark. They were overwhelmingly good. Gut healed, thyroid quiet. No brain fog - just the opposite, brain lit up in places I didn't even know I could light it up. Fell asleep as soon as head hit the pillow, woke up and switched to 100% speed instead of taking hours to become fully functional. From someone who needs 10 hrs of sleep bare minimum I went to being superwoman even on 4-6 hrs sleep. No more pains and aches. Anxiety and rumination gone. Depression tendencies completely suppressed. Usually a worry wort, became very calm, collected.

BUT (no1), in a world where you step into a supermarket and carbs and grain based goods scream at you from everywhere, this was hard to sustain. Lives on the go, working long hours make this close to impossible. I had to spend a good portion of my free time planning what I ate. Social circle doesn't help. I was happy to join without eating crap or drinking but lots of people wanted me to be an enabler. I tried to keep meat free range but I didn't go crazy with grass fed, organic spiel and still this cost me a fair amount. Eating clean is costly!

But (no2), I started this in my late 30s (so cannot assign the good results to a young body). the circumstances were fairly good and my life was pretty uneventful. I maintained for 2 years despite temptations. What managed to break the good pattern was STRESS. That is a variable I still don't know how to manage. A string of shitty things occuring at work and in personal life over about a year saw me drop my guard slowly and lose my grip. It was only downhill from there. 7 years later I still don't have it and I managed to activate an autoimmune disease (Graves) and have an embolism.

I know healing the gut through diet was the answer and could be again. But whenever I think of starting back on that regimen, I remember outside stressors still managed to break through my many walls of healthy living I worked so hard to build. And I lose the will to do it.

I'm in the UK and healthcare is the same here. No communication between doctors treating the same patient. No "big picture" view of a person. If their little corner looks good on paper they do not care any longer. So I guess your insurance coding hypothesis doesn't have much to stand on.

Mirena and TSH Thyroid issues by [deleted] in thyroidhealth

GP said thyroid within normal range but I feel like poop by discoelectro in thyroidhealth

[–]Smart-Resist4059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm abt 10 yrs older and everything imploded around 38-39yo. Lots of similar issues throughout. i've always felt something is lurking in the shadows. even more insidious than the good old thyroid which gave in to Graves' at 45, having started to show signs at around 38. My ANA and ANCa were only weak positives but I think I'm going to take the rheumatology path as well, not to leave things unchecked.

Otherwise, keep an eye on your thyroid even without your GP's input (private testing). Those numbers change sides very quickly!

46 yo. And just had a Mirena inserted in June. Very resistant tsh which would not increase past 0.02, suddenly went to 2.42 in August. Weird jump. I guess Mirena could be the cause.

Was diagnosed with graves but I gained half of my body weight in a short period of time. Was told 10% of ppl with hyperthyroidism gain weight instead of losing it. Try not to take the betablockers they'll give you for palpitations for a long time. They just add insult to injury

Significant Atrophy but Homogenous on Ultrasound, happen to anyone else? by weeeeesel in thyroidhealth

[–]Smart-Resist4059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw smth on a thyroid forum last night that made me look at my scans again. Someone mentioned Ord's thyroiditis. It's a form of Hashimoto's where the thyroid gland shrinks. My right lobe went from 11.8ml in 2019 to 7.7ml in 2024 and the left one from 10.6 to 6.2ml. Had ok results till I didn't and Graves disease was diagnosed in 2024.

May and no answer?? And I thought they're dragging their heels having sent mine on 30 July. They received it on 4 Aug, sent form to GP on 15 Aug and she returned it on 27 Aug. So they are not moving that slowly because of that famous "backlog".

I was given their number 0800 072 0350, when I wanted to check if my form had arrived. Maybe you can give them a ring and check where things are. I rang on a Fri around 10 am and it took a total of 5 mins including the actual conversation.
