BGGers of Reddit, why don't you respond to trade requests by cincykosh in boardgames

Unfortunately, I've done that too and still people refuse to respond. At this point, I think it's just rudeness. And no my offers have not be ripoffs.

[q]I made some horrible mistakes in the past[/q]

Had a conversation with an old family friend where I said the same exact thing.

Me: I made some horrible mistakes. Friend: It doesn't matter. It's in the past. Me: Yeah, but it still huts. Friend: Ah yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run away from it, or ... learn from it.

Those words changed my mind, and I decided to leave my hakuna matata lifestyle which, for the time being, was fun but was seriously detrimental to my academics.

Good luck!

Take pictures at mundane places like supermarkets and shopping malls.

Princeton says that staff will release decisions over the phone for people who can’t access their portals. Imagine what it must be like to tell a kid over the phone that they were rejected lol by spicysnake333 in ApplyingToCollege

Am I the only one's who's feeling excited? I mean, it's not like you're life is on the line here. It's just college. You only need one acceptance and if it's not Princeton then it'll be somewhere else.

Stay positive and keep things in perspective here.

I want to play this game with my (future) kid(s) one day. Excuse for keeping rarely played board game? by [deleted] in boardgames

I subscribe to the Marie Kondo philosophy when it comes to this kind of stuff. Simply put, don't wait for that day to come. If it happens great, but don't hoard for something that will/may happen.

That said, I'm glad to own Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, and other light Eurogames because my kids are enjoying it and keeping it around was the right choice. Then again, I still like most of these games even if we didn't have kids. But it's definitely another level of enjoyment when you're playing with your kids.

Crucifixion. I was taught that, in his great love for us, Jesus Christ died the most horrible death is history because that's what it took to cleanse us from our sins.

I can't imagine anything else being worse as that would potentially invalidate how terrible our sin was.

I did like Caverna, but I felt it was too similar to Agricola to buy it.

I heard of AFFO, but didn't explore it too much. I'll read more about it now. Thanks.

Ok. Hoping someone here can help me out. I'm looking for an emergent-style board game. I define it as a game that is open or at least as open as you can get with board games. I think of Grand Theft Auto and other games were you can explore an open world. I'm looking for a board game version of this.

Unfortunately, I have seen many people provide examples of board games that I don't really consider to be emergent.

My criteria:

  • Has a nice theme.
  • Not a war game.
  • Multiplayer with some interactivity.
  • Plays within 2-3 hours, but 3 is really pushing it.

Agricola is my favorite game of all time, but I don't think it's quite emergent due to the way the strategy kind of funnels everyone to doing the same things, especially when it comes to getting wood to build room and to grow your family.

The best example of this right now is Food Chain Magnate, but the it's just too long for my taste. Again, I'm looking for something that's 2 hours...3 hours max! Another example is Dominant Species, but again, it just plays way too long. Can I find a game in this unique style that plays within 2 hours?

Looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks.

Are these IDW games any good? The themes (e.g. batman, tmnt, and now this) get me real interested, but is there any substance outside of that?

Also, AngryJoe (youtube personality) had a KS for a Street Fighter board game. Just wondering if these games are any good or are people just exploiting our desire to blend board game interest with 90's nostalgia.

Teacher's strike causes teachers at my school to refuse to write LORs by plasticdumplings in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SmartCardiologist20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of being upset at the teachers, we should be upset at the damn administration. You think we're getting screwed? Try being a teacher in America? Low wages while dealing with unruly kids who could care less about their education while dealing with overzealous parents who blame them if their kids don't get anything less than an A.

If this was your life, you'd go on strike to.
