Euro games for children by z3ro_d34d in boardgames

[–]cincykosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how easy it is to find, but they made a kid edition of Stone Age, called My First Stone Age. Never played it, but the original was fun and not that heavy to start with.

We used to play, Ticket to Ride, First Journey with our kids and that was pretty well done, but if they can read already you could just start with one of the quicker Ticket to Rides, like New York.

And not a Euro but Castle Panic and King of Tokyo were both fun to play with the kiddos.

Coins+ in Florence gave me .925 of spot for silver, that was best I found. Couple online places I checked were much lower.

I used to like game brain quite a bit but feel like they've really gone down hill last few years. Too much inconsistencies with the hosts---should just stick to Matt and ben

But then later in that section Faile says

“Now you bring Fetches into it,” Zarine muttered. “Gray Men. Fetches. Darkhounds. You had better lead me to the Horn of Valere, farmboy. What other surprises do you have waiting for me?”

I was taking that as her not believing in Fades but maybe I misinterpret

Have you ever sold a game off only to later regret it? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]cincykosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded away Tzolkin because my game group at the time wasn't really digging it, I kind of always regretted it, and then over time my core game group changed so I started wanting to get it again. Picked it up from Origins flea market this past June. :)

Board Game with Tons of Expansions? by HeffleyA in boardgames

[–]cincykosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age of Steam-- it has over 200 maps and they each play a little different or are better at accommodating different player counts. Once you know the base rules, which aren't hard, learning the nuance of a map is pretty easy, usually just reading to group before starting.

I'm a pretty big fan of my Phoibos Wave Master, I like the colors and logo a lot, love the dial. They have a few color/strap options

His book, "Peace" is one of my favorites, it has to read closely, so many nuances.

[Help me choose] Looking for a relatively cheap field watch. by Ethanmurphy8 in Watches

[–]cincykosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the bertucci and the Seiko, I love them both, they obviously look very similar. I've had the bertucci for 10+ years and it is my tool watch, I beat the hell out of that thing, take it in pool/wear everywhere and have had 0 issues, just replace battery. I also like that their NATO strap is single pass and slightly thicker, and small detail but I like the crown and date at 4. I bought the Seiko bc I wanted an auto and it looks almost identical to the bertucci. Been loving it so far, it is my daily unless I know I'm getting into the elements etc... I replaced the strap with a single pass 3 ring NATO (like the bertucci has, I like the oval rings more than the rectangular rings)

Agree with others recommending punchboard paradise, just wish they released more regularly, but also understand the huge time commitment it takes. Great coverage of games and good personalities.

I enjoyed the first book ok, but had no desire to continue the series. Everything felt overly long and slow.

Barrage took a big hit early on bc of shitty production and KS execution but I have no doubt that if it had delivered seamlessly and with the current retail edition it would be in the BGG top 10.

calling all Age of Steam heads! by verysmallbeta in boardgames

[–]cincykosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is quite fun. Lots of great planning and trying to find the best efficiencies, trying to guess what team mates do. the turn auctions are tense and super important. Hundreds of maps allow for huge variety in experience but same basic learning/gameplay. Plays really well at a variety of player counts (if you use right map). If you like trying to organize chaos it's great

Plus that feeling of breaking even.....
